Local Chain Closes Hamilton Location

A chain of drycleaners had a location in Hamilton for about a year.

A Boston-based chain of locally-owned drycleaners opened one of its first suburban locations last year in Hamilton.

But it is now closed.

Sarni Cleaners has locations in several neighborhoods of downtown Boston but owner Ken Sarni said he was looking to add new locations outside of Boston and on the North Shore last year.

Sarni, who lives in Lynnfield, is an assistant coach with the high school lacrosse team. He was headed to a game at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School when he saw some open retail space at 176 Nay Road, next to Hamilton Convenience.

Sarni opened a new location for Sarni Cleaners there last June. A year later, though, the company has closed its doors. The space is cleared out and the sign has been taken down. Sarni did not return an e-mail message and phone call this week seeking to talk to him about the decision to close its Hamilton location.

When the Hamilton location opened, it was the company's 10th location. The company now has nine locations in greater Boston, according to a list on its website.
