There is a memo dated May 15, 2013, from Lindle Willnow, BOH Chair which was to be read to the BOS meeting of May 16. It states, among other things, that:
The Pirie property development “must adhere to the requirements of 310 CMR 15.000: THE STATE ENVIRONMENTAL CODE, TITLE 5”, and
“Given the potential size of the development and the volume of wastewater possibly generated, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) may have to approve the planned wastewater disposals system per Title V, rather than the Board of Health.” -

To the Editor of the Hamilton-Wenham Patch and the Citizens of Hamilton
The following is information to be found in the Pirie Property folder at the Town of Hamilton Board of Health. It is being made available so citizens will have some additional facts to help them decide how to vote on the purchase of the property.
I have not made my own decision as of yet and will present only facts or statements found in the folder, not my opinion. I am not an engineer of any kind and have no expertise in the areas of septic, waste water or percolation, etc.

ReplyThe Mass Audubon Ipswich River site in Topsfield has a great fun program on weekends for all ages. It is a one-hour tour that includes seeing sugar maples up close, trees that are tapped, a presentation on how to do tapping, and a visit of the sugar house where sap is being turned into syrup.
Everyone gets a small taste of the syrup at the end.
It is a great way for little kids to learn about sugaring in nature, because during the tour you never know what you will see.
Call the sanctuary for more information, 978-887-9264, for more information. There are three tour times on Saturdays and Sundays for the next two weekends.

ReplyGiven the above, the simplest and best way to solve the problem would be to have a regular trash pickup every week.
From the number of blue bags I see that would be appropriate. If other towns can do it, so can Hamilton.

ReplyGiven all this, perhaps the easiest way to fight maggots would be to have regular trash pickup every week, not every other week. Given the number of "paid for" blue bags I see, it would seem to be needed.
If other towns can do it, Hamilton can.
