The full price that was paid for the TakTrax was $13.50, still quite a discount from the retail price of $20. I will speak with the Friends and see what they would like to do after the Wenham seniors have purchased what they want. Mary Beth Lawton, Director, Hamilton and Wenham Councils on Aging   more ›

Senior Van Windshield Smashed for Second Time in Six Months

Vandals smashed the windshield on the senior van overnight - the second incident in six months.

For the second time in six months, vandals have smashed the front window of the Hamilton-Wenham Councils on Aging van. Shared Councils on Aging Director Susan Carp said 11 seniors were scheduled for rides to medical appointments and other trips on Tuesday. They will have to either cancel their appointment or find another ride, she said. Vandals threw a rock through the van's windshield, Carp said. Carp said the van will be out of service for at least a day, or possibly longer, while repairs are made. She will give riders an update as more information becomes available. The windshield on the van was smashed overnight back in August. Both times it was parked in the parking lot at the corner of School Street and Ellis Avenue in Wenham, next …

Wenham Senior Center to Expand Hours in Heat

The Wenham Senior Center on School Street will be open until 6 p.m. because of the expected heat and humidity on Thursday.

When the weather “becomes consistently hot,” the Wenham Senior Center will be open until 6 p.m. Council on Aging Director Susan Carp, who is shared between Hamilton and Wenham, said the Wenham building on School Street would be open until 6 p.m. on Thursday because of forecasted temperatures into the 90s. There are programs in the building until noon, but afterward it will be open. “I will keep the doors open from noon-6 p.m. for those that want shelter,” Carp said on Wednesday. Carp said she would develop and distribute “a more concrete plan” for periods of hot and humid weather this summer. “We do have a microwave and refrigerator if folks want to bring their lunch or have an early dinner here,” Carp said.
