The sign was up before Wise went before the Planning Board last Thursday for a public hearing where the board would decide whether to grant the permit. “You did it in the wrong order,” Planning Board chairman David Geikie told Wise. “I am offended by the order you did this.” Geikie said the move "showed a cetain lack of respect for the procedure" and said it was "out of character" …

Two-Year Long Maples Tree Feud Ends With Replanted Trees

For two years, there's been a debate about replanting trees at the Maples condos in Wenham. The trees have been replanted and it has now ended.

A long running back-and-forth between the Maples condominium board and the Wenham Planning Board about replacing hemlocks trees that were cut down has ended. “The Maples have planted their trees,” Planning Coordinator Emilie Cademartori told the Planning Board last Friday. The trees were planted in the way that the Planning Board and Maples board agreed back in April, according to a letter from Tree Warden Pierre Erhard. And Mullen said, yes, under the initial phasing plan that would have been the plan. "These people had a point," Mullen said. Under the new phasing plan, Phase 1 will include the conversion all of the main building – Penguin Hall – and Phase 2 will be construction of detached manor …
