Five Things to Know on June 10: Discount Ends Monday on Summer Programs

Today is Monday, June 10. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 1. Clouds: Monday will be a cloudy day, with rain expected to move in later in the day. Temperatures will get into the 70s. 2. Wenham Museum: Wenham Museum is running a two-day special that ends today that offers a 15 percent discount on certain sessions of its “History Alive!” summer program. Just on Monday, the discount applies to the “Historical Kids” and “Civil War” programs. You can sign up online, by phone or in person at the museum. 3. Student Loans: Two federal legislators who both represent Hamilton and Wenham will hold an event Monday in Boston that hopes to push to keep student loan interest rates steady. U.S. Rep. 'Roaring 20s' Will Celebrate 90 Years for Wenham Icon

Wenham Museum's will celebrate its 90th anniversary this weekend in its biggest event ever.

Wenham Museum's will put on its biggest event ever, and will be taking it away from the Wenham village to a seaside location for the first time this weekend. The museum will celebrate its 90th anniversary at Misselwood, a seaside function facility on the campus on Endicott College in Beverly, on Saturday night. "This is probably the largest event the museum has ever held," said Kristin Noon, Wenham Museum's executive director. She said the $45,000 in corporate support for the event is also a record high for the museum. She credited a well organized effort by the board and museum supporters that brought in all the donations. "That funding is a substantial portion of our budget," she said, calling it "unprecedented corporate support." The …

Museum Will Be 'Popping' Starting This Weekend [VIDEO]

The top picks from an extensive pop-up book collection will be on exhibit starting this weekend at Wenham Museum.

Elaine Schofield was dropping off some puppets at Wenham Museum about a year ago when she starting chatting with exhibitions curator Jane Bowers. "How many pop-up books do you have?' Bowers asked Schofield. "About 1,300," Schofield said. That conversation gave birth to the museum's latest exhibit in the Thompson Gallery "Pop Goes the Book! Favorites from the Elaine Schofield Collection" It will open on Friday with a members-only cocktail reception celebrating the opening of the museum’s two spring exhibits - the pop-up book exhibit and "Draw Me a Story: Paper Monsters from Ed and Rebecca Emberely" on Friday, March 15 from 6–8 p.m. Schofield has been collecting pop-up books for more than 20 years and includes books dating back to the 1930s …
