Five Things to Know on May 21: Elementary School Band and Chorus Perform

Today is Tuesday, May 21. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 1. Cooler: The temperature will be at least 10 degrees cooler on Tuesday than we saw on Monday. Five Things to Know on May 7: Wenham to Get Update on Finance Department

An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

Today is Tuesday, May 7. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 1. Clearing: Tuesday is expected to start out much the way Monday started, with some fog before eventual clearing with the temperature getting into the 60s. 2. SeniorCare: SeniorCare, a non-profit that helps senior citizens in both Hamilton and Wenham as well as much of the North Shore, opens as new office in Cummings Center on Tuesday. The organization’s headquarters are still in Gloucester and the Beverly office will be a satellite office. Five Things to Know on April 23: Wenham's Newest Selectmen Joins the Board

An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

Today is Tuesday, April 23. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 1. Rain: Tuesday is forecasted to start out cloudy and by afternoon it will be rainy. The temperature will stay in the 40s all day and a northeast wind will blow up to 17 miles per hour. 2. Wine and Cheese: Wenham Tea House plays host to an event on Tuesday night called “Demystifying Wine and Cheese.” Bobby Viel and Gino Rossi combine to put on a “fun and informative class” about on wine and cheese pairing from 7-9 p.m. 3. Baseball: The baseball team at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School is hosting a fundraiser on Tuesday at 15 Walnut, where the proceeds from a guest bartender between 8-10 p.m. will go to the team’s boosters. One Incumbent Reelected, Another Ousted in Town Elections

One member of the Hamilton Board of Selectmen was reelected on Thursday and the chairman of the Wenham Board of Selectmen was defeated in the town elections.

Marc Johnson will be returning to the Hamilton Board of Selectmen for another term while in Wenham, Molly Martins will not. Jack Wilhelm defeated Molly Martins in the race for a three-year term on the Wenham Board of Selectmen. Wilhelm received 578 votes to Martins' 267 votes. For the past three years, Martins has been the board's chairwoman. In Hamilton, Scott Maddern was also elected to the Board of Selectmen. He currently serves on the Finance Advisory Committee. Maddern and Johnson will serve three-year terms on the five member board. Maddern received 568 votes and Johnson received 515 votes. Jack Hauck received 237 votes and Bill Dery received 195 votes and neither were elected to the board. Three new members were also elected to the …

Wenham Board of Selectmen Election Results

Results from the Wenham Annual Town Election on Thursday, April 11.

The Wenham Board of Selectmen has a new member. Jack Wilhelm was elected to the three-member board in Thursday's annual town election, 578-267 votes, according to unofficial results from Town Clerk Trudy Reid. Wilhelm defeated Molly Martins, who was seeking reelection to her second term. She has served as chairman for the first three years on the board. Wilhelm is a former member and chairman of the Finance Advisory Committee and works as the chief financial officer at a hospital.

I *almost* feel sorry for Molly. However, her silence at the Town Meeting was deafening and that silence (in my opinion, of course) erased what chance she might have had to retain her seat. Wenham Now Has Permanent Police Chief

Tom Perkins has dropped the word "interim" from his title as Wenham police chief.

He's interim no more. Thomas Perkins was unanimously named the permanent chief of the Wenham Police Department on Tuesday by the Board of Selectmen. Perkins has been the department's interim chief since last July after then-Chief Kenneth Walsh retired. He now works as Director of Safety and Security at Endicott College in Beverly. Walsh made the transition easy for Perkins, he said, and left a "good foundation." Perkins has been with the department for 25 years and was previously captain for four years. "Over the past nine months you have shown exemplary leadership and we couldn't be any happier, pleased and proud to have you as our permanent chief," said Molly Martins, chairwoman on the Board of Selectmen. Where and When Do I Vote on Thursday?

The annual town election is being held in both Hamilton and Wenham on Thursday. Find out where and when to vote.

Thursday is election day in both towns. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in both towns. Hamilton votes at Winthrop Elementary School. For the first time at the annual town election, Wenham votes at Wenham Town Hall. In Hamilton, two members will be elected to the Board of Selectmen. Wenham voters will election one member of its Board of Selectmen. In both towns, voters will choose three new members of the School Committee. Get a Sneak Peak of Thursday's Town Election Ballots

Here's what the ballots will look like for Thursday's town election in both Hamilton and Wenham.

Voters in both Hamilton and Wenham will choose three members of the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School Committee on Thursday. Additionally, voters in Hamilton will select two members of the Hamilton Board of Selectmen and a in Wenham voters will choose one member of its three-member Board of Selectmen. Hamilton polls are open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. at Winthrop Elementary School. The Wenham polls are open from 7 a.m.- 8 p.m. at Wenham Town Hall. This is a change in both date and location for Wenham voters, who had traditionally voted at Buker Elementary School on the Saturday morning before the Annual Town Meeting.
