Here is the answer to our latest "Then and Now" historical photo contest.
The latest "Then and Now" historical photo feature shows Frank Perkins' store in downtown Wenham. Both the “old” photo and the “new” photo are attached to this story. The photo, looking north, was taken taken on March 27, 1891. D.G. Howard from Essex is shown making a delivery to the store in the photo. On the righthand of the building, which is now home to Grassy Roots, was a drug store run by Perkins' brother, James. There's a new historical photo posted every Tuesday. Check the site next Tuesday for the latest one. Special thanks to Arthur "Butch" Crosbie and the Hamilton Historical Society and the Wenham Museum for providing the photos we use for this feature. Plus, if you have a picture that was taken somewhere it Hamilton and Wenham …

Here is the answer to our latest "Then and Now" historical photo contest.
The latest "Then and Now" historical photo feature shows the members of the Wenham Fire Department in front of its then-Main Street station on April 2, 1891. Both the “old” photo and the “new” photo are attached to this story. The department was posing with its hand-pumped named “Enon #1” in front of the station, which was called the Enon Building. The location of the current day Fire Department is just off to the right of the photo. As Tom Luxton points out, while there is a former fire station on Main Street that is now home to Viola Lovely, you will notice it is not the same building that was there is 1891. There's a new historical photo posted every Tuesday. Check the site next Tuesday for the latest one. Special thanks to Arthur "…

From the late 1940's until the mid 1980's the store was owned and run by Wes and Jesse Chadder I think it was named Wenham Market but to the locals it was called Chadder's.   more ›
