The following message was sent to parents on Friday by Miles River Middle School Principal John Driscoll. It is printed here unedited and in its entirety. Miles River parents and guardians, As the reports of the tragic events that are unfolding in Newtown, CT continue to come in, please note a few important pieces of information. As a precaution, we ensured building safety and security and were in direct contact with the Hamilton PD. Students in the middle school were generally unaware of the events that were unfolding, yet at the close of the day, I did address the entire school and informed them they would likely here about a 'tragic event in a CT school', that we care for them greatly, and that are safe as they headed home today. Driscoll Named Permanent Principal at Miles River

John Driscoll will be the permanent principal at Miles River Middle School in Hamilton.

He’s officially dropped the “interim” title. John Driscoll has been officially named the permanent principal at Miles River Middle School. Interim Superintendent Peter Gray made the announcement to the School Committee on Thursday night, noting it came after meeting with the middle school faculty last week and parents earlier this week. “I’m very pleased to say he will be here for the duration,” Gray said, adding he plans to sign a multi-year contract with Driscoll. It is the second major personnel announcement by Gray in recent weeks. Earlier this month Gray announced that John Hughes, the interim principal at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School, will remain as the school’s interim principal through the 2012-13 school year. Retired Natick Principal is Interim Pick at the Regional

John Hughes, the retired principal of Natick High School, has been named the interim principal at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School for the 2011-12 school year.

The former principal at Natick High School, who retired in 2010, will be the interim principal at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School for the coming school year. John Hughes worked for the Natick public schools for more than 40 years – the last eight as principal. Peter Gray, interim superintendent of the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District, made the announcement on Tuesday. Hughes takes over for Matt Fox, who left to become principal at Veterans Middle School in Marblehead. For the past few years, Fox served as both the principal at the high school and Miles River Middle School. Hughes will lead just the high school. The two finalists to become the next principal at Miles River Middle School in Hamilton will meet with the community on Thursday night at the school.

Both finalists to become the next principal at Miles River Middle School will have a chance to meet the community on Thursday night. The two finalists are Nancy Croy, principal at Lombardi Middle School in Green Bay, Wisc. and Elizabeth Raucci, principal at Manchester-Essex Middle School in Manchester-by-the-Sea. The public meet and greet is scheduled for Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. at Miles River Middle School. One of the two finalists will replace Matt Fox, who left in June to become principal at Veterans Middle School in Marblehead. Fox had served as principal at both the middle school and Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School, but school leaders have decided to name a full-time principal for each school. Two existing middle school principals - one from neighboring Cape Ann and one from half way across the country – are the two finalists to become the next principal at Miles River Middle School. Nancy Croy, principal at Lombardi Middle School in Green Bay, Wis. and Elizabeth Raucci, principal at Manchester-Essex Middle School in Manchester-by-the-Sea, are the finalists, Interim Superintendent Peter Gray announced in a Blackboard Connect phone and e-mail message to parents on Monday afternoon. Principal Finalists to Go Before the Public on Thursday

The two finalists to become the next principal of Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School will meet the public on Thursday evening.

The two finalists to become the next principal of Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School will go before the public on Thursday night. And the final decision – expected by sometime next week – is one of three key personnel decisions that will be made in the school district in the coming months. After selecting a high school principal, school leaders will move towards selecting a new middle school principal and a new school superintendent. The two high school principal finalists will be available to meet with the public on Thursday night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the PA room at Miles River Middle School.
