Lynnfield Gets Back at Generals, Charette

Jim Love's two-run homer was one of the lone bright spots for the Generals who lost at home on Monday.

In Monday’s rematch, the Lynnfield baseball team was able to get to Hamilton-Wenham’s Cam Charette. It wasn’t difficult to see the difference between an early season start for the Generals ace and one at the end of the schedule on three days rest. At the same time, the Pioneers’ bats were in mid-season form and we able to crank out 11 hits in an 8-2 Cape Ann League win at Patton Park. In the opening weeks of the Generals campaign, Charette pitched a gem against Lynnfield – one of the top squads in the CAL – yielding only four hits with 10 strikeouts in a 3-0 victory. Five Things You Need to Know Today: May 23

By the time Charette releases the ball, a batter has a split second to react. Quite often, it's too late and the ball is in the mitt. Charette has dominated since the season began, striking out 10 batters in a complete game shutout of Lynnfield for the Generals' first win of the season. To date, Charette has a 0.00 earned run average. In his 17 innings pitched so far this season, he has 25 strikeouts and given up just six hits. Hamilton-Wenham Patch had a chance to talk to Charette on Facebook. This is what he had to say. Hamilton-Wenham Patch: What are you thinking about when you're staring down a …
