Pitcher Cam Charette struck out 10 as Generals baseball defeated Lynnfield, 3-0, on Thursday to get the first win of the year.

Hamilton-Wenham senior Cam Charette pitched a complete-game shutout to lead the Generals to their first win of the season on Thursday, 3-0, over the Lynnfield Pioneers. Charette struck out 10 and held the Pioneers to four hits, while the Generals (1-2) got enough offense to hand Lynnfield (3-1) its first loss. "It felt good today, my arm felt good," Charette said. "It felt strong and I just threw the fastball nice and good." Lynnfield was hurt by two errors that allowed the Generals to score two unearned runs. Despite giving up just the one earned run, Lynnfield senior pitcher Ben Kenrew took the loss. "Those errors cost us," Lynnfield Coach John O'Brien said.
