Where to Pick-Your-Own Strawberries in and Near Hamilton and Wenham

Here's a look at where strawberries are available in Hamilton and Wenham and nearby areas of the North Shore.

Strawberry season has begun!  Despite the rain, strawberry season has started at several local farms. Some farm are not open yet or open this weekend. Strawberries are available for picking at the following farms near Hamilton and Wenham. Today is Thursday, June 6. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham. 1. Repeat: Thursday is shaping up to be very similar to Wednesday. There will be partly sunny skies and temperatures will get to about 70 degrees. 2. Seniors: Starting Thursday, senior citizens get 30 percent off at Ocean Job Lot in Danvers. The discount is for anyone 62 years old and older and runs through June 12. The store is calling it the “Silver Salute” week. 3. Five Things to Know on May 7: Wenham to Get Update on Finance Department

Today is Tuesday, May 7. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 1. Clearing: Tuesday is expected to start out much the way Monday started, with some fog before eventual clearing with the temperature getting into the 60s. 2. SeniorCare: SeniorCare, a non-profit that helps senior citizens in both Hamilton and Wenham as well as much of the North Shore, opens as new office in Cummings Center on Tuesday. The organization’s headquarters are still in Gloucester and the Beverly office will be a satellite office. Patton Praised for Her 'Important Role' on the North Shore

Joanne Patton was one of the Distinguished Leaders recognized by the North Shore Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday night.

Joanne Patton was honored Wednesday night as one of eight "Distinguished Leaders" for her years of local involvement, ranging from the ownership of Green Meadows Farm to the recent donation of her family's estate to the town of Hamilton. The awards were handed out during a dinner ceremony at Danversport Yacht Club hosted by the North Shore Chamber of Commerce. Patton lived in 27 homes before settling in Hamilton, said Karen Andreas, publisher of the Salem News and outgoing chairman of the Chamber who handed out the awards. "Name a non-profit on the North Shore and Mrs. Patton has played an important role," Andreas said. Patton Named 'North Shore Distinguished Leader'

Joanne Patton has been named a North Shore Distinguished Leader, a honor announced Thursday for eight prominent North Shore residents.

Joanne Patton, who earlier this fall completed the donation of her family’s homestead to the town of Hamilton, is one of eight winners of this year’s North Shore Distinguished Leader Award. The winners were announced on Thursday morning by the Danvers-based North Shore Chamber of Commerce. They will be honored on Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 5-8 p.m. during a dinner event at Danversport Yacht Club. The award is designed to honor “distinguished leaders in business, industry, community and profession” on the North Shore. It is the second year that the award has been given out. Joanne Patton Serves as Chairwoman of Pingree Outdoor Art Exhibit

The Flying Horse Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit returns this fall to Pingree School for the third straight year, with Joanne Patton serving as the honorary chairwoman.

The honorary chairwoman of the third annual Flying Horse Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit at Pingree School is Joanne Holbrook Patton. Patton, who lives not far from the Pingree campus, is the widow of Major Gen. George S. Patton IV and daughter-in-law of World War II General George S. Patton. She just moved to Topsfield after donating her family’s Asbury Street estate to the town of Hamilton. In announcing the show, Pingree said Patton is a strong supporter of the arts. She has also used Green Meadows Farm, which she owns, to display outdoor art. The Pingree show features 36 pieces by 25 New England artists displayed throughout the school's 100-acre campus.
