Generals Boys Lacrosse Starts Strong In 17-4 Playoff Win

The Generals led 5-0 less than five minutes into the Div. 3 first round contest, eventually cruising to a win that advances the team in the postseason tournament.

The first 90 seconds was a microcosm of the game. Hamilton-Wenham junior Eliott Burr took the opening faceoff, sprinted down the field and uncorked a shot that got past Bishop Connolly goalie Dalton Revis, nine seconds into the game. Then sophomore Eddie Frick fended off a Cougars player and doubled the lead only 1:06 later. One and a half minutes would elapse before the visitors from Fall River would even get possession. The rest of the game was pretty much the same – the Generals winning most of the one-on-one battles, showing more talent than the visitors, and taking advantage of mistakes – resulting in a 17-4 victory in a first round Div. 3 boys lacrosse matchup Friday at the high school. Hamilton-Wenham (12-5) now travels to league …

Coming Off an Upset, South Coast Lacrosse Team Faces Generals at 1 p.m.

The Bishop Connolly Cougars upset league rivals Tri-County to earn a place in Friday's tournament game against the boys' lacrosse Generals at 1 p.m. in Hamilton.

It took the Bishop Connolly boys’ lacrosse team two days to do it, but they earned a trip to Hamilton with a 6-2 win over Tri-County Regional on Thursday afternoon. With the Bishop Connolly Cougars (both teams have the Cougars as a mascot) leading 4-2 on Wednesday, the game was postponed because of inclement weather in Franklin. The two teams got back on the field Thursday afternoon for the final seven minutes and Bishop Connolly iced the match with two late goals. Bishop Connolly and Tri-County had to battle through a preliminary game, while the Generals sat at home waiting to see who they’d play in the first round of the Div. 3 East first round game Friday at 1 p.m. at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. B. C. stands at 9-7 with its …

Boys' Lacrosse Team Ready to Face Unfamiliar Foes After First Round Bye

The boys' lacrosse Generals are waiting on the winner of the Tri-County versus Bishop Connolly game to find out who they'll play Friday afternoon at HWRHS in a Div. 3 East playoff game.

Coach Jim LaSelva is in a nice position - a waiting position. The Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School’s boys’ lacrosse team earned a first round bye with its 11-5 record for the 2011 season, and just has to wait to see whom they will play. LaSelva says he’s confident that his team will be ready, whether it’s Bishop Connolly or Tri-County coming to Hamilton for the East Division first round playoff game on Friday afternoon. Game time at the high school field is set for 3 p.m. “We have a good network, the lacrosse coaches in the area, I’ve made a few calls to see what I can find out about Tri-County and Bishop Connolly,” LaSelva said. “It’s reciprocal, we don’t divulge everything, but I’ve gotten calls for information on some of our …

Fight and Forfeit Ends Lacrosse Game at Swampscott

The boys' lacrosse team won 7-1 Thursday in a forfeit-shortened game against Swampscott after a fracas in the second quarter.

At least two Hamilton-Wenham lacrosse players and one Swampscott player was ejected from Thursday's game at Phillips Park in Swampscott. Big Blue Coach Josh Field forfeited the game after the fight, said Swampscott Athletic Director Alison Argentieri. Argentieri attended the game as planned and learned about the incident after her arrival, shortly after the fight broke out. She was briefed on it by Field. Swampscott was trailing 7-1 in the second quarter when rough play escalated to a fracas. A hard hit during a face-off sent several players to the ground, Argentieri said.
