To the Editor: You may not like Congressman John Tierney’s vision for our country’s future or his stance on certain issues. You may not like that he stands with President Obama. These are all valid reasons not to vote for John Tierney. However, the one reason that should not prevent you from voting for John Tierney is his character. John is not a thief. John is not a liar and John is not a criminal. John is a man of integrity and honesty and the people of the Sixth District who have watched him over 16 years know this. When late in life John got married he unfortunately took on two felonious brothers-in-law. After they were convicted for tax evasion from the running of an illegal gambling ring, federal probation required that a business …

Libertarian Congressional candidate Daniel Fishman has been left out of a debate, and he's not backing down.
Libertarian Congressional candidate Daniel Fishman has filed a complaint against WCVB with the Federal Elections Commission. WCVB is planning a 6th District congressional candidates' debate on Thursday, and Fishman was not invited because he did not meet their criteria: A candidate must have a certain number of staff members, a daily campaign schedule, communicate on a regular basis with news media, garner at least 10 percent in two recent independent polls and have campaign contributions of at least $50,000. The debate will include U.S. Rep. John Tierney (D-Salem) and Republican challenger Richard Tisei, the two major party candidates seeking the seat in the Sixth Congressional District, which includes Hamilton and Wenham. Fishman's …
Will the Boston Globe's endorsement of Republican Congressional candidate Richard Tisei have impact on the race?
Republican congressional candidate Richard Tisei has picked up the endorsement of the state's largest newspaper, The Boston Globe on Tuesday. The Globe cited Congressman John Tierney's family legal issues combined with Tisei's politically moderate nature: "Tierney’s family scandal — and his evasive handling of it — gives voters a reason to look elsewhere. Meanwhile, he has an appealing Republican challenger, a moderate who served with distinction as minority leader in the state Senate. This year, Sixth District voters should elect that challenger, Richard Tisei." The Sixth Congressional District includes Hamilton and Wenham. The editorial says that while Tisei is further to the right than the majority of voters on some issues -- citing his…

Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School student Chase Schaub write with an analysis of the Sixth Congressional District race and support for Richard Tisei.
In what is being called one of the most important Congressional races in the country, the battle between Republican challenger Richard Tisei and Democratic U.S. Rep. John Tierney has sure been one of the dirtiest. From the start of the race, both campaigns came out swinging, but now it looks increasingly like Tisei’s campaign is coming out on top. As we near closer to the election there have been numerous signs that one cannot ignore about the inevitable fate of this election. Tisei seems like he will be the victor and apparently Tierney’s campaign and the Democrats seem to agree. In a shocking admission of defeat, the Democratic Congressional Committee, a PAC run by Nancy Pelosi, recently pulled approximately $630,000 worth of …

The congressman called his opponent "shameless" and "irrelevant."
Democratic Congressman John Tierney brought sharpened teeth to debate with Republican opponent Richard Tisei on NECN Thursday, and he wasted no time digging in. Just one day after the 6th District congressional candidates gathered in North Andover for a debate, the two appeared on "The Broadside" with Jim Braude and left most of the pleasantries at the door. Tierney faces an intense battle for reelection, with many polls showing Tisei either ahead of him or surging upward, and the eight-term congressman worked to aggressively take his opponent down a few notches Thursday -- attacking his decades-long state legislator record and calling him "shameless." Video of the entire debate can be watched on NECN's Web site. Early on, the focus was …

The Sixth District Congressional debate on Wednesday was hosted by the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Candidates in the Massachusetts 6th District congressional race -- U.S. Rep. John Tierney (D-Salem), Republican Richard Tisei and Libertarian Daniel Fishman -- gathered at North Andover High School to debate issues relating to small business and job growth. Hosted by the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce and moderated by Chairman Sal Lupoli, the debate lasted about an hour and focused and - in what may at this point seem like a surprise - focused on policy issues instead of personal issues. Tierney's wife Patrice and her family legal issues were not even mentioned. Tierney faces an intense battle for reelection, as many polls have showed Tisei either ahead of him or surging upward. And Fishman has worked tirelessly to position himself …

Whether you like Obama or not, we are going to get hit hard with Obama Care Cost, once he is or if Obama is re-elected. And if we have Warren, Obama, Tierney, within ten years all of us will be in the poor house together as the government through the health care mandate will have electronic access to withdraw from personel bank accounts. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=HcBaSP31Be8&vg=medium   more ›
