Today is Thursday, July 5. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Captain America: Summer movies for teenagers start on Thursday at Hamilton-Wenham Library with a showing of “Captain America: The First Avenger” at 3 p.m. It is free and the movie is rated PG-13. 2. Principal: Thursday is the deadline for resumes to be submitted to become the next principal at Winthrop Elementary School. Last month, Principal Carrie Vaich said she was leaving for a new job as a principal at an elementary school on the seacoast of New Hampshire, closer to her home. 3. Bingo: As part of the festivities at the Two Town Fourth on Wednesday at Patton Park, a game of Cow Pie Bingo was held to benefit Hamilton-Wenham Generals football. And the winner was – John …

An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

Today is Wednesday, July 4. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Showers: While Wednesday is expected to be an OK day weatherwise for the Fourth of July holiday, there is a good chance that a shower or thunderstorm will move through at some point. It wil be cloudy and temperatures will be into the 80s. 2. Two Town Fourth: The big event of the day is at Patton Park from noon to 3 p.m. for the Two Town Fourth celebration. It starts with a kids bicycle parade from the First United Methodist Church to Patton Park, followed by everything from kids games and barbecue to Cow Patty Drop and antique cars at the park through the afternoon. 3. Trash: Government offices are closed on Wednesday for the Fourth of July, but, arguably, the most …

4th of July Celebration to Include Bike Parade, Games, BBQ and Much More

The Two Town Fourth of July event will run noon to 3 p.m. at Patton Park on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s Two Town Fourth of July festivities will start with a bicycle parade and end with "Cow Chip Bingo.” Between that, there will be everything from a barbecue, games and contests, craft vendors, antique cars and fire trucks - all from noon to 3 p.m. at Patton Park. The bike parade will start at the First United Methodist Church and make its way down Bay Road (Route 1A) to Patton Park. In addition to decorated bikes, the parade can include other decorated items, such as a wagon or a pet. A Marine Corps Color Guard will march into the park as part of the parade. After the parade makes it into the park., DJ Jill will provide entertainment and the Hamilton-Wenham Rotary Club will be running a barbeque, according to organizer Jeff Bird…

All eyes will be on Patton Park and downtown Hamilton on Independence Day on Monday where both towns will celebrate the country’s birthday at “Two Town Fourth.” Here’s a quick look at a few things you need to know before you head out to the fun. Opening Ceremony: The afternoon full of patriotic fun kicks off at noon at Patton Park with a military color guard presentation that will include a special guest. Parade: The parade begins at the First United Methodist Church at 12:15 p.m. and makes its way south on Bay Road to the Patton Park entrance.
