A Hamilton native who burst onto the NCAA Division 1 basketball scene this past year has decided he will enter this year's NBA draft.
Michael Carter-Williams, who just six years ago called the gymnasium at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School his home court, will enter the NBA draft this June. The announcement was made on Wednesday by Carter-Williams' coach at Syracuse University, Jim Boeheim. Carter-Williams is a sophomore point guard at the school and played a key role for the team this season, helping them to the Final Four of the March Madness tournament. "Michael has informed me of his intention to enter the NBA Draft," said Boeheim in the Wednesday afternoon announcement. "He's coming off a tremendous season and we appreciate all he's done for Syracuse basketball. We wish Michael the best of luck as he pursues a pro career." For Carter-Williams, that success came …

The sophomore point guard from Hamilton did not to let a devastating house fire a few days earlier bother him as him topped Syracuse scorers in Thursday night's Sweet 16 game.
Michael Carter-Williams played like a Sports Illustrated coverboy on Thursday night and not like someone who was dogged by the thoughts that his family's home had been seriously damaged by fire five night earlier. Carter-Williams, of Hamilton, was Syracuse University's top scorer with 24 points on Thursday to help the Orange become the first team to knock out a No.1 seed from the March Madness tournament. Syracuse defeated Indiana 61-50. What a difference a year makes. Last year, as a freshman, Carter-Williams and the Orange came to the TD Garden in Boston for their Sweet 16 matchup. But Carter-Williams didn't get in the game. Instead, on Thursday night he had 24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, an assist and a block. He went 3-for-6 from …

The Hamilton home that burned Saturday night belongs to the mother of Syracuse University star point guard Michael Carter-Williams.
HAMILTON, MA -- The home that caught fire on Saturday night belongs to Mandy Carter-Zegarowski, the mother of Syracuse University basketball star Michael Carter-Williams, according to property records. Carter-Williams was playing in an NCAA March Madness tournament game at the time of the fire. Firefighters were battling the fire as Carter-Williams played a key role in the Orange's 66-60 win over 12th-seeded University of California in the Round of 32. The game was played at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. Carter-Williams, who started the game at point guard, scored 12 points and had two assists in the win over the Golden Bears, according to coverage of the game by SB Nation. The mother of a Hamilton native who was reportedly headed into the NBA draft this spring says her son remains undecided.
The mother of a local basketball player who is leading the NCAA in average assists per game said Tuesday her son is still undecided about entering the NBA draft this spring. Mandy Carter-Zegarowski is the mother of Michael Carter-Williams, a sophomore point guard at Syracuse University who played his freshman year at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School and later transferred to St. Andrew's in Rhode Island, where he graduated in 2011. On Tuesday, Hamilton-Wenham Patch posted a story citing a GoLocalProv story that cited "several sources" that said Carter-Williams plans to go pro this spring. But that's not the case, Carter-Zegarowski said. "We have not made any decisions regarding Michael playing in the NBA," Carter-Zegarowski said. "…
