Just because the Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School boys basketball team is accustomed to playing in the tournament, its first-round matchup Tuesday night is not a forgone conclusion. The Generals did capture the Cape Ann League Div. 2 title for the third straight season, but unlike the past two they do not enter the tourney as the top seed, and thus are not afforded a first-round bye. Generals basketball captain Stephen Tam is already working hard this summer, hoping for a successful season next year.
Steve Tam, captain of the Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School basketball team, is having a hectic summer, balancing his studies with a summer basketball league, training hard for next season. Tam and his team had a hugely successful season last year, earning the No. 1 seed in the Div. 3 North, going 16-4 in the Cape Ann League. Tam was voted season MVP. During the summer, Tam plays in a local league set in Danvers that features two games a week, with over 200 teams taking part in the league that includes some private schools as well as the usual Cape Ann League opponents.
