Nagy Wrote Suicide Note An Hour Before Shooting, Left Thousands in Cash

Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy said in his suicide note that he planned to shoot Beverly Police Officer Jason Lantych if he met up with him on the evening of Feb. 24.

Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy outlined his plans to shoot Beverly Police Officer Jason Lantych and then take his own life in a suicide note left at his home less than an hour before the Feb. 24 shooting. That’s according to a summary of the investigation released on Thursday by Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett. The report does not say where Nagy went between the shooting – just before 6 p.m. on Feb. 24 – and the time he pulled into the parking lot near the shooting scene at about 10:30 p.m. and killed himself in his sport utility vehicle. Police cause harm to INNOCENT people every day, but when there is an incident between two cops it makes news? Nagy Left Memories That Will Bring 'Joy and Comfort'

Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy was laid to rest at St. James in Salem on Friday morning.

Hamilton Police Sgt. Ken Nagy was remembered as a man who created many wonderful memories for many people, during his funeral on Friday. “Those are the very memories that will give you joy and comfort in the future, in time,” said Rev. Louis Bourgeois, the former priest who married Nagy and his wife Katie. “Father B,” as many in Hamilton and Wenham know him, also serves as the chaplain for the Hamilton Police Department. Nagy and Bourgeois met not long after Nagy began with the police department 19 years ago and Bourgeois arrived at St. Paul Catholic Church in Hamilton. Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy will be laid to rest on Friday in a funeral service at St. James in Salem. Nagy shot Beverly Police Officer twice outside the Starbucks in North Beverly last Friday before returning to the scene about five hours later and taking his own life. Lantych is recovering and an investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to the Essex County District Attorney's office. Nagy has been remembered as a "techie" who loved his family - including his wife and two sons - and was a skilled investigator and fair police officer.

Priest: Nagy Was a Pleasant, Upbeat Gentleman

The priest who married Hamilton Police Sgt. Ken Nagy and his wife Katie, and who will preside over his funeral on Friday, called Ken Nagy a pleasant, upbeat man who was a good police officer.

The priest who married Sgt. Ken Nagy and his wife Katie at St. Paul’s called Ken Nagy “a good friend and a good policeman.” Rev. Louis D. Bourgeois serves as the Hamilton Police Department’s chaplain and first met Nagy when he arrived at St. Paul Catholic Church in 1993. He became the department’s chaplain six months later. “He was always a gentleman; Every time I would see him he would be pleasant,” Bourgeois said, saying he always saw Nagy smiling and upbeat as he would see him around town – often crossing children in front of one of the schools on Route 1A. “He would always give me a nice wave.” Nagy’s funeral Mass will happen at St. James in Salem because that is where Bourgeois is now, after retiring from St. Paul’s in 2010. Shooting Investigation Results to be Released When Complete; Suicide Note Found

The investigation into a shooting of a Beverly police officer by Hamilton police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy outside a Starbucks in North Beverly last Friday will be complete and thorough, Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said on Tuesday. Nagy's funeral will be held Friday in Salem.

  The funeral for Hamilton Police Sergeant Kenneth Andrew Nagy, Jr. will be held Friday at St. James Church in Salem, according to Murphy Funeral Home in Salem. According to an obituary submitted by the family on Murphy Funeral Home's Website, Nagy leaves behind "his loving wife, Katherine, and their two wonderful young sons, Gavin William, 7, and Griffin Andrew, 5, to whom he passed on his love of gadgets, technology, and Star Wars." DA Investigating Motive Behind Beverly Shooting

The Essex County District Attorney's Office said Monday that the public is not in danger after Friday night's shooting involving a Hamilton police sergeant outside a Starbucks in North Beverly.

No criminal wrongdoing has been found – beyond the initial shooting - and the investigation into a motive is ongoing after Friday night’s shooting outside a Starbucks in North Beverly, Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett announced on Monday. In addition, the public is not in danger after the shooting, allegedly by Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy, and his subsequent suicide near the shooting scene five hours later, according to the District Attorney's office.
