Selectman Jeff Hubbard called the decision “an easy vote," according to the Salem News article. Stevens came to Hamilton in September 2009 as the police department was reeling from the EMT recertification scandal that affected most of the department's officers. The priest who married Hamilton Police Sgt. Ken Nagy and his wife Katie, and who will preside over his funeral on Friday, called Ken Nagy a pleasant, upbeat man who was a good police officer.
The priest who married Sgt. Ken Nagy and his wife Katie at St. Paul’s called Ken Nagy “a good friend and a good policeman.” Rev. Louis D. Bourgeois serves as the Hamilton Police Department’s chaplain and first met Nagy when he arrived at St. Paul Catholic Church in 1993. He became the department’s chaplain six months later. “He was always a gentleman; Every time I would see him he would be pleasant,” Bourgeois said, saying he always saw Nagy smiling and upbeat as he would see him around town – often crossing children in front of one of the schools on Route 1A. “He would always give me a nice wave.” Nagy’s funeral Mass will happen at St. James in Salem because that is where Bourgeois is now, after retiring from St. Paul’s in 2010. I am still haunted by this entire tragic event. I believe a beautiful family going through very normal family growing pains and changes was tragicly affected by the negative effects of an antidepressant never taken before by the usually very rational assailant. Detective Nagy was always professional in his well established role as detective and the perfect example of the loving father to his two …   more ›
