Today is Wednesday, Jan. 2. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 1. Cold: The sun is forecasted to shine bright on Wednesday, but it will not do much the warm things up. The high temperature will be in the upper 20s with winds gusting to 25 miles per hour. 2. Governor’s Council: The Governor’s Council meets for the first time in the new year on Wednesday. Hamilton and Wenham have a new representative on the council, Eileen Duff (D-Gloucester), who was elected in November to replace Mary-Ellen Manning (D-Peabody), who decided to not seek reelection to run for the state Senate. Today is Wednesday, Dec. 12. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 1. Sun: Yippee, the forecast on Wednesday calls for sun from start to finish with temperatures into the low 40s. 2. Legos: Legos take over Hamilton-Wenham Library for an hour on Wednesday afternoon for “Lego Mania.” The event runs from 3-4 p.m. and is designed for students in grades 1-5 “to come and create a masterpiece, share ideas and designs, work individually or as a team.” 3. Concerts: There’s one big concert close to home and another big concert far from home on Wednesday night. Today is Monday, Dec. 3. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 1. Warm: Monday is forecasted to be an uncharacteristically warm day, with partly sunny skies and a high temperature into the 50s. Better yet, it is expected to be warm through Wednesday. 2. School Committee: The Hamilton-Wenham Regional School Committee meets bright and early on Monday at 7:30 a.m. at the school district offices at Center School to go over the fiscal 2012 budget results and look at projections for the current fiscal year. 3. Salvation Army Offering Heating Assistance to Local Families in Need

The Salvation Army provides up to $350 for eligible households in Massachusetts during the winter from money raised in its 'Give the Gift of Warmth' campaign.

The following information was provided by the Salvation Army: The Salvation Army, the administrator of the 2012–13 Massachusetts Good Neighbor Energy Fund campaign, announces that as of Monday, Dec. 3, the Fund will be available to households on an emergency basis due to the “urgency of need” throughout the state. The Fund will open to all qualified candidates on Wednesday, Jan. 2. A cooperative effort between the state's energy companies, their customers and The Salvation Army, the Fund helps households in temporary crisis who do not qualify for federal or state assistance with the payment of their energy expenses. The Fund’s 28th Annual “Give The Gift of Warmth” campaign's goal is to raise $650,000 and help more than 2,000 households. “…

Five Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 2

Today is Monday, Jan. 2. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Warm: Enjoy it while it’s here – the temperatures into the 40s on Monday will be our last gasp at warm temperatures for a few days. It will be sunny on Monday, too, before temperatures are forecasted to stay below freezing through Thursday. 2. Holiday: Monday is New Year’s Day Observed, meaning it is a federal holiday. Hamilton Town Hall, Wenham Town Hall and Hamilton-Wenham Library are all closed. Most banks are closed, including all three banks in Hamilton. Trash pickup is delayed by a day on Monday and for the rest of the week and there is no mail delivery on Monday. The MBTA commuter rail trains will be operating on a Saturday schedule. 3.
