Selectmen to Continue Look at Next Steps for Patton Estate

The Hamilton Board of Selectmen meet on Monday night.

The next steps for the Patton estate is on the agenda Monday night for the Hamilton Board of Selectmen. The town accepted the Asbury Street estate at Town Meeting last spring and a town committee continue to look at the best way to use the estate. On Monday night, the Board of Selectmen are planned to discussed the responsibilities and future direction of the committee. It is one of the items on the agenda for the board, which meets at Hamilton Town Hall at 7 p.m.

Selectmen Slated to Vote on Town Manager Contract Monday

A look at what is on the plate for the Hamilton Board of Selectmen when it meets on Monday night at Hamilton Town hall.

The Hamilton Board of Selectmen have an agenda for Monday night's meeting that includes items that are expected to last only about a half hour. But several items are of top importance, including consideration of approval of a renewal of Town Manager Michael Lombardo’s contract. His three year contract is up in April and the board and Lombardo have been negotiating a renewal in executive session during recent meetings. The board is also slated to discuss a Payment-in-Lieu–of-Taxes program,  discuss discontinuing the “paper road” Gifford Road, and get an update and discuss issuing a Request for Proposal for the Patton Advisory Committee The board meets at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Room on the first floor of Hamilton Town Hall. Patton Praised for Her 'Important Role' on the North Shore

Joanne Patton was one of the Distinguished Leaders recognized by the North Shore Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday night.

Joanne Patton was honored Wednesday night as one of eight "Distinguished Leaders" for her years of local involvement, ranging from the ownership of Green Meadows Farm to the recent donation of her family's estate to the town of Hamilton. The awards were handed out during a dinner ceremony at Danversport Yacht Club hosted by the North Shore Chamber of Commerce. Patton lived in 27 homes before settling in Hamilton, said Karen Andreas, publisher of the Salem News and outgoing chairman of the Chamber who handed out the awards. "Name a non-profit on the North Shore and Mrs. Patton has played an important role," Andreas said. Patton Named 'North Shore Distinguished Leader'

Joanne Patton has been named a North Shore Distinguished Leader, a honor announced Thursday for eight prominent North Shore residents.

Joanne Patton, who earlier this fall completed the donation of her family’s homestead to the town of Hamilton, is one of eight winners of this year’s North Shore Distinguished Leader Award. The winners were announced on Thursday morning by the Danvers-based North Shore Chamber of Commerce. They will be honored on Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 5-8 p.m. during a dinner event at Danversport Yacht Club. The award is designed to honor “distinguished leaders in business, industry, community and profession” on the North Shore. It is the second year that the award has been given out. Patton Estate Gift Agreement Likely to be Signed Monday, Closing Date to be Set

The gift of the Patton estate moves closer to being final will the expected signature of a gift agreement by the Board of Selectmen on Monday.

A gift agreement between the town of Hamilton and Joanne Patton is scheduled to be signed on Monday night – one of the final steps toward making the gift of the Patton estate final. In May, Annual Town Meeting voters accepted the gift and work has been underway since then to complete the gift. The 27-acre estate, off Asbury Street near the Topsfield town line, was home to General George Patton and his son, Maj. General George Patton. Major General Patton’s widow, Joanne Patton, offered the property as a gift to the town last winter. A committee was formed to examine to consider uses for the property, which could include playing field and a bed and breakfast. The gift does not include neighboring Green Meadows Farm, which will continue to …

Borings to Determine Quality - and Value - of Patton Soil This Week

Borings will be taken this week from soil on the Patton property that could possibly be valuable septic gravel.

It should be clear by the end of the week the value of some of the fill on the Patton property, which is soon to be owned by the town government. The estate, off Asbury Street near the Topsfield town line, was home to General George Patton and his son, Maj. General George Patton. Town Meeting voters overwhelming voted in May to accept the 27-acre property. The town is on schedule to close on the property by Aug. 15, the deadline set in the gift agreement, Town Manager Michael Lombardo told the Board of Selectmen on Monday night. On Monday, Lombardo said he met with attorneys representing Joanne Patton, who made the donation to the town, and discussed “modest things that need to be cleared up.” The prospect that valuable septic fill gravel …
