A former Gordon College student who graduated 20 years ago was the parent of two students at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
The daughter of a 1992 Gordon College graduate was killed in Friday's shooting at a Connecticut elementary school, according to a post of the college's official Facebook page. Charlotte Bacon, was one of 20 children killed on Friday at a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Her father, Joel Bacon, was a 1992 graduate of Gordon and later married JoAnn. In a profile of the victim by Newsday, Charlotte Bacon was described as "an outgoing girl with long and curly red hair." Her uncle told the paper that Charlotte's oldest brother, Guy, also attended Sandy Hook Elementary School and survived the shooting. The Bacons had lived in Newtown, which is about 60 miles north of New York City, for about four or five years.

In the wake of the Newtown, Conn. shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, a moment of silence is planned at Beverly Common on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Hamilton-Wenham Patch has not learned of any similar event in the two towns, but if one is organized we will bring you the details. "Meet on the Beverly commons, BYOC..bring your own candle. No talk, just try to meet up at 6:30, flick on a few lights, and disperse. NEWTOWN, CT -- Connecticut police said Friday afternoon that 26 people, including 20 children, were killed at an elementary school after a gunman opened fire. Another adult was killed at a second location. The Scene Police in Newtown were called to the Sandy Hook School at about 9:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call Friday morning.
