Myopia's Master of Foxhounds Seriously Injured in Show Jumping Accident

Donald Little suffered a serious injury in a show jumping accident in Florida on Sunday.

Donald Little, Master of the Foxhounds at Myopia Hunt Club, suffered a serious neck injury in a show-jumping accident in Florida on Sunday, the Daily Form reported on Monday. Little, beyond his position at Myopia, is the founder and president of the Putnam Boston Equestrian Classic, which has been put on at the Myopia Scooling fields for the past two summers. It its first year it was known as the Putnam Investments Boston Jumper Classic and was run in conjuction with the Myopia Horse Show. Daily Racing Form reported on Monday that the accident occurred at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Fla. The “bible of thoroughbred racing” reported that the injury was serious but offered few other details. The Racing Form said the injury …

VIDEO: Horses and Hounds Kick Off Two Weekends at Myopia

Last weekend 111th Myopia Horse Show leads into this weekend's start Putnam Boston Jumper Classic.

The Myopia Horse Show at Myopia Hunt Club's School fields wraped up on Monday with the melodious mix of Lady Gaga and the sound of Huntsman Robert Howarth’s hunting horn. Among those on-hand to enjoy the spectacle were six and a half year old Maya Beach and her father Robert.

VIDEO: Excitement Builds For Two Weekends of Horses

Preview to the four-day Putnam Boston Equestrian Classic at Myopia Hunt Club took place recently on Boston Common.

Two weekends full of horse-related excitement starts this weekend with the traditional Labor Day weekend Myopia Horse Show on Sunday and Monday. The action continues the following weekend with the Putnam Boston Jumper Classic. To build interest for the Jumper Classic, an exhibition was put on showing the horses in action recently on Boston Common. World-class riders showed their stuff to an enthusiastic crowd on a jump track set up less than 50 yards from Charles Street in the heart of Boston. On hand at the event was Don Little, Master of Foxhounds at Myopia. The four-day Jumper Classic will take place Sept. 8-11 at Myopia Hunt Club and will feature Olympic grade show jumping, jousting and a dog show.

Today is Thursday, Sept. 1. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Weather: We are in the midst of an incredible streak that continues on Thursday. The forecast calls for sun and temperatures in the upper 70s. 2. Power: We proudly report that every home and business and the two towns had power back on Wednesday, while literally tens of thousands of others across the state waited for power to come back. As of Wednesday evening, there were 61,000 National Grid customers without power in the state. For comparison, that’s 13 times more electric customers than there are, in total, in the two towns. 3.
