Former Youth Generals Contribute to Prep's Super Bowl Win

Six players on the St. John's Prep football team that won the Div. 1 Super Bowl came from the Generals Youth Football program.

The St. John’s Prep Eagles of Danvers took home the Eastern Mass. Div. 1 football championship with a decisive 48-28 victory over the Brockton Boxers at Bentley University on Saturday, Dec. 1. The victory marked the seventh appearance for St. John's in the championship game and the third time the Prep has claimed the state title. The Eagles also won the title in 1982 and 1997 under Coach Jim O’Leary. Six Prep football players from Hamilton-Wenham, most of whom played for the Hamilton-Wenham Generals Youth Football program, played important roles in the memorable 11-1 season. Saturday's Super Bowl Location and Time Are Set

The Generals will meet Bourne High School in the Div. 3A Super Bowl on Saturday.

The Div. 3A Super Bowl matchup between Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School and Bourne High School on Saturday will be played at Manning Field in Lynn. Game time is noon. The game time and location was announced on Wednesday morning by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association. The Generals advanced to its first every Super Bowl appearance after a 7-0 win over Newburyport High School on Tuesday night at Andover High School. The only scoring of the game came with 32 seconds left on a 5-yard Trevor Lyons run and a Paul Kim PAT. Bourne advanced to the Super Bowl on a 22-14 win over Bishop Feehan Tuesday night.
