STILL STANDING: Tierney Defeats Tisei [VIDEO]

The battle for the 6th District seat is over.

Congressman John Tierney has defeated Republican challenger Richard Tisei in an extremely tight race for Massachusetts 6th District congressional seat. This has been an unusually high-profile congressional race in Massachusetts, which is considered a stronghold for House Democrats. Tierney suffered from the impact of a family scandal involving his wife, her brother and her brother’s illegal offshore gambling business. Tisei, on the other hand, climbed to popularity with his aggressive campaign, his theme of bipartisanship and his years of serving in the state legislature. He out-raised Tierney in campaign donations every quarter. Tisei made Tierney’s family legal scandal a focus of the campaign, calling Tierney’s credibility into question…

I used to live in Massachusetts, and I know how idiotic the voters there are--they keep voting in the same slimy, paid off criminals year after year. I hope you enjoy all the higher taxes, higher unemployment, higher energy costs, inflation and misery coming everyone's way now that you dumb democrats have reelected an inept, progressive, socialist liberal president hell bent on making "everyone …   more ›

Letter to the Editor: Congressional Race is About Issues and Not Tierney's Wife

The chairman of U.S. Rep. John Tierney's campaign finance committee, Barry Weiner of Essex, writes in support of Tierney's reelection.

To the Editor: I first met John Tierney in 1995 when he asked if I would consider helping him in his run for Congress. I agreed and have chaired the finance committee for his successful campaigns since then. Over this time, I’ve consistently found John to be a bright, hardworking, honest fellow, and a passionate and effective representative for our district. Despite the power and glitter of the position, he’s also never changed, remaining the same down to earth guy from a modest, middleclass family. Given what I know about John it pains me to see him attacked, and so unfairly and savagely in this campaign. I say “unfair” because the assertion that John knew of the crimes of his brothers in law and his wife’s “willful blindness” is just not…

Barbara: Hold the President accountable along with Joe Biden and Panetta for our Sovereign soil, attacked in Libya. We let our own die in vain over there, where is the American Conscience and Outrage ? Forget the Politics, our administration committed crimes by not reacting. Where was Hillary Clinton ? In Kosovo we attacked remote areas, in Afghanistan we attacked remote areas. In the situation …   more ›

Letter to the Editor: John Tierney is Not a Thief, Not a Liar and Not a Criminal

Hamilton attorney Jeffrey Scuteri writes in support of Congressman John Tierney for reelection.

To the Editor: You may not like Congressman John Tierney’s vision for our country’s future or his stance on certain issues. You may not like that he stands with President Obama.  These are all valid reasons not to vote for John Tierney. However, the one reason that should not prevent you from voting for John Tierney is his character. John is not a thief. John is not a liar and John is not a criminal. John is a man of integrity and honesty and the people of the Sixth District who have watched him over 16 years know this. When late in life John got married he unfortunately took on two felonious brothers-in-law. After they were convicted for tax evasion from the running of an illegal gambling ring, federal probation required that a business …

Whether you like Obama or not, we are going to get hit hard with Obama Care Cost, once he is or if Obama is re-elected. And if we have Warren, Obama, Tierney, within ten years all of us will be in the poor house together as the government through the health care mandate will have electronic access to withdraw from personel bank accounts. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=HcBaSP31Be8&vg=medium   more ›

TELL US: What is Deciding Your Vote for Congress?

There are many issues in the 6th District congressional race. Which one is the big factor for you?

The election is less than two weeks away. In the Massachusetts Sixth District, voters will decide who their next congressman will be. Incumbent Democrat John Tierney is in an intense race against Republican challenger Richard Tisei and Libertarian Daniel Fishman. The campaign has gained national attention. Legal drama involving Tierney's inlaws, Tierney campaign talk of Tisei having radical right-wing connections, and the emergence of Fishman's outside-the-box third party effort have made the race eventful, to say the least. All this, in the midst of a federal budget crisis, Medicare, student loans, abortion, high unemployment and more. We want to know what issue is the biggest deciding factor in your vote in the 6th District race. Discuss…
