The "Christmas in the Village" evening shopping event took over downtown Hamilton and Wenham on Thursday night.

Businesses in downtown Hamilton and Wenham hosted shoppers during the "Christmas in the Village" event on Thursday night. Businesses from Hayfields in Shoppes at Hamilton Crossing to Crows Corner in 300 at Main across to Jolie Tea Co. on Bay Road to Timeless Interiors on Railroad Avenue all participated.

The biggest event of the shopping season is Thursday night in Hamilton and Wenham, with live holiday music, store specials and an appearance from Santa.

The second annual Christmas in the Village Marketplace is happening on Thursday night. Here’s a quick wrap-up of some of the things you’ll want to know before you head out. When is the Christmas in the Village Marketplace? Thursday, Dec. 8 from 5-8 p.m. Where it is happening? In the combined Hamilton and Wenham downtown (300 at Main, Bay Road and Railroad Avenue) plus Wenham Village on Main Street. How long has the Christmas in the Village Marketplace event being happening? This is the second year it has happened. On “Black Friday,” allegedly one of the busiest shopping days of the year, we give you some things to know about shopping right here in Hamilton and Wenham. 1. Parking: Unlike the downtown areas in many communities, it does not cost a cent to park in downtown Hamilton, whether it is at the plaza or on Railroad Avenue. The same goes for Wenham. Take your time with no worries about feeding the meter or getting a ticket. But you should still remember parking laws, including following the posted signs and keeping away from fire hydrants and street corners. 2.
