Today is Tuesday, April 3. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Trash: One of our “things to know” will be the new trash program all week long. The new program affects almost every resident of the two towns and the program’s changes are going into place all week long. It started in Wenham on Monday and continues on Tuesday in Wenham before beginning on Wednesday in Hamilton - all on the regular collection day. Trash, recycling and organics collection will happen weekly in Wenham, while this week there will be just recycling and organics collection in Hamilton. Next week trash, organics and recycling will be collected in Hamilton. 2. Umpiring: The Hamilton-Wenham Little League is looking for umpires in its Minor Leagues for the …

We have a real life, local example of increasing gas prices in Hamilton on Monday, where the price at Hamilton Convenience went up from $3.65 to $3.69 between noon and 5 p.m. That equaled neighboring Oliver Gulf and was a cent more than G & M Motors. Today is Thursday, Feb. 16. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Wenham Town Administrator: The deadline for applicants to become the interim Town Administrator in Wenham is Friday. Town Administrator Jeff Chelgren has been named the new Town Administrator in Marblehead and his last day in Wenham will be April 13. The Board of Selectmen are looking for an interim to step in after Chelgren leaves. 2. Gas: Gas prices continue to go up. The lowest price for gallon of regular gas in the two towns on Wednesday was $3.64 at G & M Motors. At Hamilton Convenience and Oliver Gulf, a gallon was $3.59. It was selling for $3.79 at Fallon’s. Sunny: After more snow than expected on the ground on Tuesday morning, we return on Wednesday to weather we’ve seen more often this winter – sun and wind. In addition to the clear skies and temperatures around 30, there’s a wind advisory in effect for Wednesday with winds expected to gust to 50 miles per hour, with the strongest gusts around lunchtime. 2. Christmas trees: We now know exactly how many Christmas trees were recycled in the two towns this past holiday season – 823.
