The Lady Wildcats snagged the edge midway through the first half and never looked back, earning a 2-0 win over Hamilton-Wenham.
The expression goes that things went wrong for a team as soon as they stepped off the bus. But for the Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School girls soccer team, things weren’t exactly going great even before the bus arrived. On the way to their Div. 2 North semifinal tilt on Saturday night, the Generals hit traffic and didn’t set foot onto the field until about 25 minutes remaining before kick off. Things didn’t get much better from there as sixth-seeded Wilmington toppled second-ranked Hamilton-Wenham in a 2-0 decision. “I said (to the driver) you’ve got to move over, we’re not going to make it. Hamilton-Wenham fell, 2-0, to Wilmington in the Div. 2 North semifinals on Saturday night in Woburn.
All it took for momentum to shift in Saturday's Div. 2 North semifinal tilt was one loud clang. Hamilton-Wenham's Emily Gaucher fired a shot off the cross bar, and just 40 seconds later Wilmington countered with a goal to take the lead for good. The No. 6 Lady Wildcats went on to a 2-0 win, eliminating the No. 2 seeded Generals from the postseason. Check back with Hamilton-Wenham Patch on Monday for complete coverage.

The girls' soccer team at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School takes on Wilmington High School at 5:30 p.m. at Woburn High School.
The Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School girls' soccer team takes on Wilimington on Saturday evening in the semifinals of the Div. 2 North tournament. The Generals (15-1-2) got to the semifinals afte a shootout win over Gloucetser High School and an overtime win over Stoneham High School. The team is encouraging fans to wear blue and white to show support for the team.

The girls soccer team at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School captured the Cape Ann League Large title with a 5-0 win over Pentucket Regional High School on Thursday. The team finishes the regular season at 13-1-2 and will until Tuesday to hear its seeding and opponent in the postseason tournament. "From now until then, Hamilton-Wenham will regroup and begin a disciplined training session that will lead the team to the first game of the tournament," Coach Alvi Ibanez said after Thursday's win. The one loss and two ties ending to the regular season marks a dramatic turnaround from 2011 when the team went 4-9-3 and did not make the postseason tournament. The girls' cross-country team won the Cape Ann League Open for the fourth straight time in an impressive team performance on Saturday.
The Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School girls’ cross-country team won the Cape Ann League Open for the fourth straight time on Saturday at Bradley Palmer State Park. Girls’ cross-country: Kerry Phelan was tops to lead the Generals girls’ cross-country team to a win in the Cape Ann League Open on Saturday. Coach Steve Sawyer said it was Phelan’s best race of the year. The Generals topped the field of 11 teams with an impressive four runners in the top 10. Hamilton-Wenham ended with just 34 points, more than half the points – 76 – tallied by second place finisher Masconomet. The high school boys' and girls' soccer, volleyball and field hockey teams all lost on Friday.
Both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams from Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School lost to separate opponents on Friday. Field Hockey: Georgetown, 6; Hamilton-Wenham, 1. Senior Becky Balk scored the Generals (2-9-3) only goal in a loss to Georgetown at home on Friday. Senior captain Julia Dolan had a strong game for Hamilton-Wenham on offense. The Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School girls’ soccer team tied twice in two games in recent days to Cape Ann League opponents while the boys’ soccer team had a seven goal win over Manchester-Essex. Volleyball: Masconomet, 3; Hamilton-Wenham, 0. The Generals volleyball team (4-10) lost in three straight games at home on Monday evening to Masconomet Regional High School. The game scores were 19-25, 16-25 and 21-25.
