The Generals' boys' soccer starting goalkeeper for the past three seasons is headed to Stonehill College this fall.
Luke Besse, a 2012 graduate of Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School, is headed to Stonehill College where he will play soccer. At the Regional, Besse was a three-year varsity starter on the Generals boys' soccer team, serving as captain senior year. Besse was also awarded the coaches award freshman and senior year. Beese was part of the 2010 Cape Ann League Champion team and helped lead the team to appearances in the state tournament all three years as the starting keeper. A second-half Generals comeback goes for naught as a Spartans senior nets a hat trick in the Div. 3 North sectional quarterfinals on Monday night.
Last year the Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School boys soccer team bowed out of the Div. 3 North sectionals in a shootout. Monday night at Manning Field in Lynn it appeared history would repeat itself as the clock wound down to less than 5 minutes remaining in the second 10-minute overtime period against St. Mary’s. The Generals wish it got that far. Spartans senior forward Ralph Bertrand completed the hat trick with 4:39 showing on the clock when he flicked a header past Generals goalie Luke Besse for a 3-2 win, ending the game, and Hamilton-Wenham’s season in the quarterfinals. “St. Mary’s is a good team,” said Hamilton-Wenham coach Matt Gauron. “There were good chances on both sides but on their final chance they took advantage.” The …

Soccer: The Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School boys’ soccer team travels to Lynn on Monday night at 7 p.m. to face St. Mary’s in the Div. 3 North sectional quarterfinals at Manning Field.
