Two days worth of events planned to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School get started on Friday afternoon.
Leaders of many of the Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School sports teams took part in a statewide leadership training session put on by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.
Nineteen student-athletes and four coaches from 14 different teams at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School recently attended the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Captains and Coaches Workshop held at Stonehill College in Easton. Subjects discussed at the conference - which included student-athletes from schools from around the state - included The Role of the High School Captain, The Aspiring College Student-Athlete and Captains and Leadership Communication. "This was a wonderful event for our student-athletes to attend," said Athletic Director Craig Genualdo in an announcement about the conference. A discussion with school leaders from today and years past has been added to the 50th anniversary events coming up next weekend at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School.
The 50th anniversary celebration for Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School next weekend will now include a discuss with current and former school officials. The event will be held on Friday and Saturday to celebrate 50 years since the first class graduated from the Regional. A complete schedule of events is attached to this story as a PDF. Christopher Campbell, a teacher at the school and a gradaute, is helping organize the weekend of events. He said this week that on Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m., in the high school library, an "unofficial discussion" will be held with town and school officials. A two day birthday party celebrating the 50th anniversary since the first class graduated from Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School is planned for May 10-11.
A baton relay including members of every graduating class from the past 50 years at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School will be one of the events at the 50th anniversary open house coming up in mid-May. Chris Campbell, one of the teachers working with other teachers and staff to organize the event, said planning started last year when a 1963 graduate stopped by the school and asked what they were doing for the school's 50th anniversary. Campbell, a Regional grad, said he joined with other teachers and staff - most of them also graduates - to organize an event which will be held on May 10-11.
