Four Men Now Considering Run for Two Selectmen Spots

There are four people in Hamilton that have pulled papers to seek the two open seats on the Board of Selectmen.

There are two three-year seats up for election on the Hamilton Board of Selectmen and the deadline to return signed papers is the end of the day on Thursday. On Tuesday, three people came in to "pull papers" to run for the Hamilton Board of Selectmen - Bill Dery, Jacob "Jack" Hauck and Scott Maddern. Dery is in his first term on the School Committee and has also been actively involved on the Hamilton-Wenham Capital Management Committee for many years. Hauck recently moved to Hamilton from Wenham, where he was an active member of the trustees at the Maples condominiums and is a published author who frequently speaks about local history. Just One Candidate So Far for Two Hamilton Selectmen Seats

A look at who has pulled papers and is running for several of the open seats in local town government.

There's just one candidate for two open seats on the five-member Hamilton Board of Selectmen with less than a week left before the deadline to run, according to information from Hamilton Town Clerk Jane Wetson. Nomination papers in Hamilton need to be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 with 40 certifiable signatures of Hamilton registered voters. In Wenham, the deadline is also Feb. 21 but is 5 p.m. for 20 certifiable signatures of Wenham registered voters. There are two open three year term on the board - the two new seats added three years ago after voters backed an overhaul of the town government that also involved replacing the town administrator position with a town manager. Voter Registration Deadline is Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Hamilton and Wenham residents who want to vote in the 2012 presidential election and other federal and state races have until Wednesday to register. Here's how, with links to mail-in voter registration forms and how to request an absentee ballot.

Hamilton and Wenham residents who want to vote in the 2012 presidential election and other federal and state races have just today before the Massachusetts voter registration deadline arrives. The registration deadline is Oct 17. The Town Clerk's office at both Hamilton Town Hall and Wenham Town Hall is open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday because it is a voter registration deadline day to take in-person registrations.  Residents can also download a mail-in voter registration form on the Secretary of the Commonwealth's website. Once that form is filled out and signed, it must be mailed to the Town Clerk's Office and postmarked by Wednesday, Oct. 17 for you to be eligible to vote.
