Five Things to Know on March 11: Deadline to Sign up for Hamilton Citizens Fire Academy

Today is Monday, March 11. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 1. Beautiful: Did you like the weather on Sunday? Forecasters say that Monday will be just as nice, as a foggy start gives way to a sunny day and temperatures into the 50s. 2. Citizens Fire Academy: The final day to sign up for the first-ever Hamilton Citizens Fire Academy is Monday. The Hamilton Police Department has run two citizens academies but this is the first one for the Hamilton Fire Department. It is free and open to anyone over age 18. The class is limited to 20 people and preference is given to Hamilton residents. 3. Ping Pong: A late winter pingpong tournament has become a tradition at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School and gets underway …

Fire Department to Offer First-Ever Citizens Academy

The Hamilton Fire Department is taking registrations for its first-ever Citizens Academy starting in early April.

The Hamilton Fire Department is taking sign-ups for its first-ever Citizens’ Fire Academy that will start in early April. The academy will run from 6:30-9:30 p.m. for nine consecutive Wednesdays, beginning on April 3 and running through May 29. The Citizens’ Fire Academy is designed to familiarize citizens with the operation and function of the Hamilton Fire Department. The classes will cover topics ranging from the history and overview of the department and fire safety to protective clothing, fire apparatus and equipment. There will also be a trip to the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy on Saturday, April 20.
