Today is Thursday, April 11. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 1. Clouds: Thursday will be dominated by cloudy skies and cool temperatures. It will be in the 40s and a north wind will blow up to 15 miles per hour. There’s a chance of a rain shower in the morning. 2. Election: Thursday is election day in both Hamilton and Wenham – the first time that both towns will vote at the same time. The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in both towns. All three precincts in Hamilton vote at Winthrop Elementary School – as usual. But in Wenham, this year’s election includes some changes. Holocaust: Gordon College's Women’s Choir will be performing at a Community Commemoraton to remember the Holocaust on Monday night in Peabody. Gordon College will host an on-campus memorial service on Friday for Monica Demello.
A Gordon College student killed in a weekend car crash that was allegedly caused by a drunken driver will be laid to rest on Thursday. And on Friday, the college will host an on campus memorial service to remember Monica DeMello, a freshman at the college who was at home on Easter break in southeastern Massachusetts when the crash happened. The on-campus memorial service will happen on Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the A.J. Gordon Chapel.

The $200,000 grant for Gordon College comes from BioLogos Foundation.
Gordon College has received a $200,000 grant that will help two professors teach pastors about how to better handle issues where science and faith collide, reports the Associated press in a story that appears in the Boston Herald.

A former draft pick by the New England Revolution will take the helm of the Gordon College men's soccer program.
A man who had been drafted by the New England Revolution and was a two-time All-American in college has been picked to become the next head coach of the Gordon College men's soccer program. Derek Potteiger was named the new head men's soccer coach at the Wenham college earlier this month. Since 2009, Potteiger was an assistant coach at the Naval Academy under head coach Dave Brandt, "one of the most successful soccer coaches in NCAA history," Gordon said in its announcement of Potteiger's hire. Ptteiger started every game during his 4-year career at Penn State University and played seven years professionally in the United Soccer League.

Zipcar currently has car sharing spots at Gordon College.
A car sharing company with a location at Gordon College has been sold. New Jersey-based Avis Budget Group announced thaton Wednesday it acquired the Zipcar car sharing company for approximately $500 million. Avis agreed to purchase Cambridge-based Zipcar for $12.25 per share, according to a press release by Zipcar. The $12.25 is a 49 percent premium over the shares' closing price on Dec. 31, 2012. The board of directors for both companies unanimously approved the acquisition and the deal is expected to close sometime this spring. Zipcar currently has a car sharing spots at local colleges, including Endicott College in Beverly plus Gordon College in Wenham.
