Today is Thursday, April 11. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 1. Clouds: Thursday will be dominated by cloudy skies and cool temperatures. It will be in the 40s and a north wind will blow up to 15 miles per hour. There’s a chance of a rain shower in the morning. 2. Election: Thursday is election day in both Hamilton and Wenham – the first time that both towns will vote at the same time. The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in both towns. All three precincts in Hamilton vote at Winthrop Elementary School – as usual. But in Wenham, this year’s election includes some changes. Today is Monday, April 8. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 1. Possibly Perfect: The forecast for Monday sounds like it may be a nearly perfect springtime day. The sky is expected to be sunny with a high temperature in the upper-50s. 2. Holocaust: Gordon College's Women’s Choir will be performing at a Community Commemoraton to remember the Holocaust on Monday night in Peabody. The choir, under the direction of Faith Luethe, will join Holocaust survivors, their children and grandchildren at 7 p.m. at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. 3. Gordon to Host Memorial for Student Killed by Alleged Drunken Driver

Gordon College will host an on-campus memorial service on Friday for Monica Demello.

A Gordon College student killed in a weekend car crash that was allegedly caused by a drunken driver will be laid to rest on Thursday. And on Friday, the college will host an on campus memorial service to remember Monica DeMello, a freshman at the college who was at home on Easter break in southeastern Massachusetts when the crash happened. The on-campus memorial service will happen on Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the A.J. Gordon Chapel.

Five Things to Know on March 12: Choralfest to Include Singers of All Ages

An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

Today is Tuesday, March 12. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 1. Rain: Tuesday will be a cloudy and rainy day, with heavy rain forecasted for later in the day and temperatures into the mid-50s. But it should not last for long – the rain is forecasted to move out overnight and Wednesday is supposed to be a sunny day. 2. Choralfest: Choruses from all of the schools in the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District come together for Choralfest on Tuesday night at Gordon College. It starts at 7 p.m. in the Chapel and admission is free. Gordon Gets Money To Help Teach About Interscetion of Faith, Science

The $200,000 grant for Gordon College comes from BioLogos Foundation.

Gordon College has received a $200,000 grant that will help two professors teach pastors about how to better handle issues where science and faith collide, reports the Associated press in a story that appears in the Boston Herald.

Former Pro Soccer Draft Pick Takes Over at Gordon

A former draft pick by the New England Revolution will take the helm of the Gordon College men's soccer program.

A man who had been drafted by the New England Revolution and was a two-time All-American in college has been picked to become the next head coach of the Gordon College men's soccer program. Derek Potteiger was named the new head men's soccer coach at the Wenham college earlier this month. Since 2009, Potteiger was an assistant coach at the Naval Academy under head coach Dave Brandt, "one of the most successful soccer coaches in NCAA history," Gordon said in its announcement of Potteiger's hire. Ptteiger started every game during his 4-year career at Penn State University and played seven years professionally in the United Soccer League.

Avis Buys Car Sharing Company with Gordon Location

Zipcar currently has car sharing spots at Gordon College.

A car sharing company with a location at Gordon College has been sold. New Jersey-based Avis Budget Group announced  thaton Wednesday it acquired the Zipcar car sharing company for approximately $500 million. Avis agreed to purchase Cambridge-based Zipcar for $12.25 per share, according to a press release by Zipcar. The $12.25 is a 49 percent premium over the shares' closing price on Dec. 31, 2012. The board of directors for both companies unanimously approved the acquisition and the deal is expected to close sometime this spring.  Zipcar currently has a car sharing spots at local colleges, including Endicott College in Beverly plus Gordon College in Wenham. The company has more than 760,000 members with a presence in more than 20 …
