Five Things to Know Today in Hamilton and Wenham: Sept. 20

Today is Wednesday, Sept. 20. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Book Sale: Thursday is the final day for the Friends of Hamilton-Wenham Library’s book sale. It is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the library. 2. Senior Basketball: It is the final day to register for Senior Basketball on Thursday. The league, for players age 35 and up, is taking registrations online at HWSBL.org for the 2012-12 year. 3. Recreation: The Master Plan for the Hamilton-Wenham Recreation Department and recreation facilities and offerings will be unveiled in a public presentation on Thursday evening. The plan will be presented at 7 p.m. in the Recreation Center gym next to Hamilton-Wenham Library. 4. McDonalds: School is back in session and McDonalds is looking …

Today is Tuesday, April 24. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Givens: School superintendent candidate number two of four, Susan Givens, arrives in Wenham first thing on Tuesday - at 7:45 a.m. - to begin a full day of meetings and interviews and she seeks the top job in the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District. Parents and the public can meet with her from 10:15-11:15 a.m. at Hamilton-Wenham Library and the School Committee interviews her at 5:30 p.m. at Buker Elementary School. 2. Tennis: The rain on Monday forced the postponement of both the Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School boys’ and girls’ tennis matches. The girls are again scheduled to travel to Amesbury for 3:30 p.m. while the boys will host Amesbury at Pingree Park. 3…

Today is Thursday, March 29. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Spring: Thursday is looking to me a rather typical spring day, with cloudy skies and temperatures staying in the 40s. There is a slight chance of a quick shower or two. 2. Book sale: Thursday is the last chance to get to the Friends of Hamilton-Wenham Public Library’s book sale. The twice a year event wraps up at 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Library. All of the books are priced right and the proceeds all go to the Friends group. 3. Today is Thursday, Sept. 22. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Weather: Thursday is forecasted to be the first of many, many cloudy and rainy days. It will not be a rainout on Thursday, but will be cloudy with temperatures in the mid-70s. 2. Book Sale: if you have not gotten down to Hamilton-Wenham Library at some point this week for the book sale, Thursday is your last chance. Every book is a deal and the proceeds benefit the Friends of Hamilton-Wenham Public Library, which buys the popular museum passes and funds many other popular programs at the library. 3. Today is Monday, Sept. 19. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Weather: Monday will be a classic fall day with sun and temperatures in the mid to upper 60s. 2. Hydrant flushing: The Hamilton Water Department begins hydrant flushing tonight. It will run Monday through Thursday nights 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. through Oct. 6. To minimize the chance that dirty water gets in to your system, the water department recommends that you not use water during those times. 3. Book Sale: The Friends of Hamilton-Wenham Library’s book sale continues all week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Hamilton-Wenham Library.
