Five Things to Know Today in Hamilton and Wenham: Aug. 15

An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

Today is Wednesday, Aug. 15. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Ice Cream: One of the most anticipated events of the summer at Hamilton-Wenham Library is the Super Summer Ice Cream Party – which is Wednesday night at 6 p.m. The event, which features Cherry Farm Creamery ice cream – actually requires advance registration and children need to bring their summer reading log, which serves as the entry ticket. 2. Fresh Air: We had several visitors to the two towns earlier this summer as part of the Fresh Air fund, when seven kids from “disadvantaged communities” in New York City came here as part of the program, which arranges visits for those children to suburban and rural communities in 13 Northeastern states. An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

Today is Monday, July 23. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Distracted Driving: Teenage drivers will get to see firsthand the consequences of distracted driving (such as texting while driving) after spending 15 minutes in the Distractology driving simulator outside the Hamilton Police Department. Today is Thursday, July 12. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Fresh Air: Dozens of young visitors from New York City will be arriving at Masconomet High School on Thursday as part of a program known as the Fresh Air Fund. Seven of those children are coming to Hamilton and Wenham – four for the first time and three who are returning with the Fresh Air Fund. The children are between 6 and 12 years old and come from the “toughest neighborhoods” of New York City to stay with volunteer families in suburban and rural areas of 13 Northeastern states from Maine to Virginia. They’ll be here until July 23. 2. Legally Blonde: Boston Children Theater’s production of Legally Blonde takes the stage starting on Thursday, starring Emme Morales of …

Five Things You Need to Know Today: March 29

An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

Today is Thursday, March 29. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Spring: Thursday is looking to me a rather typical spring day, with cloudy skies and temperatures staying in the 40s. There is a slight chance of a quick shower or two. 2. Book sale: Thursday is the last chance to get to the Friends of Hamilton-Wenham Public Library’s book sale. The twice a year event wraps up at 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Library. All of the books are priced right and the proceeds all go to the Friends group. 3. Anita Silvey: Anybody who had planned to attend an event originally planned for Thursday night at Wenham Museum with author Anita Silvey should note the event has been cancelled, as not to conflict with the “Community Read” event at Gordon …
