Joanne Patton Serves as Chairwoman of Pingree Outdoor Art Exhibit

The Flying Horse Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit returns this fall to Pingree School for the third straight year, with Joanne Patton serving as the honorary chairwoman.

The honorary chairwoman of the third annual Flying Horse Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit at Pingree School is Joanne Holbrook Patton. Patton, who lives not far from the Pingree campus, is the widow of Major Gen. George S. Patton IV and daughter-in-law of World War II General George S. Patton. She just moved to Topsfield after donating her family’s Asbury Street estate to the town of Hamilton. In announcing the show, Pingree said Patton is a strong supporter of the arts. She has also used Green Meadows Farm, which she owns, to display outdoor art. The Pingree show features 36 pieces by 25 New England artists displayed throughout the school's 100-acre campus. Today is Tuesday, Sept. 6. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Weather: Tuesday will be one of the first rainouts in a while. The day is forecasted to be mostly rainy, with temperatures in the mid-60s. 2. Flying Horse Sculpture Exhibit: Pingree School opens an outdoor sculpture show - Flying Horse Sculpture Exhibit - on Tuesday with work from 18 artists on display. It is open to the public on the school’s 100-acre campus. A formal opening will be held on Sept. 18 from 3-5 p.m. at Pingree’s library. 3. Gordon Shuttle: For the second year, Gordon College will get together with Endicott College in Beverly to provide a free shuttle for students to get to a downtown Beverly coffee shop or the mall.
