Today is Wednesday, March 7. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Warm: The first of two days of exceptionally warm weather arrives on Wednesday. The high temperature on Wednesday should be into the high 50s with sunny skies. 2. Taxes: Each Wednesday through tax day in April, senior citizens can get help with their income taxes at the Hamilton-Wenham Library. Appointments for many Wednesdays – including today – are already full. There are still spots available for March 21 and 28 plus April 4 and 11. Call the library at 978-468-5577 to reserve a spot. 3. Here are five things you need to know: 1. 4 Cents: Maybe you saw the viral Internet video last week of the network news reporter standing in front of a gas station sign where the price went up by 10 cents during her report. We have a real life, local example of increasing gas prices in Hamilton on Monday, where the price at Hamilton Convenience went up from $3.65 to $3.69 between noon and 5 p.m. That equaled neighboring Oliver Gulf and was a cent more than G & M Motors. Just Wait: While Monday will be a sunny day with temperatures into the upper 30s, some warmer weather is headed our way later in the week. By Wednesday temperatures are forecasted to get into the 50s and the warm weather is expected to stick around through Friday. 2. Snow: A year ago at this time, we were all looking up at the roof of Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School and Miles River Middle School (and the elementray schools too) to see large snow drifts. The snow had piled up so deep there was concern about the building safety and workers cleared the snow for nearly a week before students returned to school, eventually making up the missed days during February vacation. 3. Sunny: After more snow than expected on the ground on Tuesday morning, we return on Wednesday to weather we’ve seen more often this winter – sun and wind. In addition to the clear skies and temperatures around 30, there’s a wind advisory in effect for Wednesday with winds expected to gust to 50 miles per hour, with the strongest gusts around lunchtime. 2. Christmas trees: We now know exactly how many Christmas trees were recycled in the two towns this past holiday season – 823.
