Five Things to Know on Nov. 16: Dick Eddy Day

Today is Friday, Nov. 16. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:  1. Sun: Another great fall day is in store on Friday with sunny skies forecasted along with temperatures again into the 40s. 2. Dick Eddy: The longtime volunteer behind events such as Kite Day will be honored on Friday – it is Dick Eddy Day at the Wenham Senior Center. The event starts at noon and will include visits from state Senator Bruce Tarr and state Rep. Social Media Delivered a Martini for Hamilton Man

A Hamilton man used social media to have a martini ready for him on time, and how he ordered it, on Friday night.

A Hamilton man said his social media network delivered for him on Friday by having a martini ready for him when he saddled up to the bar at 15 Walnut Bistro. Will Burns, chief executive officer at advertising company Ideasicle, on Friday posted a request, aimed at 15 Walnut, on his Facebook page: “I'd like the following drink prepared, already on the bar, and ready for me at exactly 5:00: Plymouth martini, up, olive, dry as a bone, shaken like your life depends on it. I'll be wearing the "Nothing is unthinkable" T-shirt in my profile pic. Good luck. Oh, and you can keep the change." 'Concerning' Facebook Posts by Former Student Under Investigation

The high school and community were safe on Thursday after concerning statements by a former high school students were found posted on Facebook.

Hamilton police say they are investigating “concerning statements” that were posted to Facebook by a Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School graduate on Thursday. “They were very general,” said Hamilton Police Lt. Scott Janes. “They were not specific to anyone.” The statements were first reported to high school administrators, according to a phone and e-mail message sent to high school parents by Assistant High School Principal Bryan Menegoni at about noon on Thursday. “As a precautionary step, the high school and middle school administration, in conjunction with the Hamilton police department, immediately ensured the safety of the students on campus,” Menegoni said in his message. Just a quick note to "recycling occupational therapist": The Segway was never intended to replace walking. It replaces driving. And at an energy equivalency of 450 miles to the gallon, it IS a clean, green, eco-friendly machine. It's also a lot of fun and can go 24 miles on a single charge...further than most "therapists" walk for exercise.   more ›

This week's Facebook poll asks Facebook fans which intersection they feel is most dangerous in the two towns.

Each week, the local police log includes several car crashes. Often those crashes occur at the same intersections again and again. Let us know in this week’s Facebook poll which local intersection you think is most dangerous. We chose some of the intersections where we often see crashes occur, or intersections where we often feel ourselves are a bit tough to get through.
