Meet a Beloved Children's Author and Hear Celtic Music This Weekend

MDA Cooking for a Cure, Bass Rocks Golf Club Bridal Show and the Trashfinders Ball all happening this weekend on the North Shore.

It's officially the weekend, Hamilton and Wenham. Not sure how you're going to spend it? Here's a look at some of the events going on in the two town and nearby on the North Shore. 'Encore Show' Added for 'Sound of Music'

One more show has been added to the second weekend of performances for the Sound of Music at the Community House.

After selling out all of the “Sound of Music” performances this coming weekend, the Community House of Hamilton-Wenham has added an “encore show” on Sunday afternoon. The announcement was made on Tuesday afternoon on the Community House’s Facebook page. The encore show is scheduled for Sunday, March 10 at 6:30 p.m. It is in addition to two sold out shows on Saturday, and sold out show on Friday night and one earlier on Sunday afternoon. Three of the four performances last weekend sold out too, including a show that included a question and answer with Trapp family granddaughter Kristina. Advance ticket prices are $18 for adults, $13 for children with $2 extra per person for reserved seats. Advance ticket sales end on Friday morning. Tickets…

New Faces Join Leadership at the Community House

Four men have recently joined the board of the Community House of Hamilton and Wenham.

The Community House of Hamilton and Wenham recently welcomed four new member to its Board of Directors. The new members joined the 20 member board in November, according to the Community House's marketing director, Carolyn Blaney. Each of the newly appointed members have made a commitment to promote and support The Community House during his 3-year term and each expressed their eagerness to give back to both communities. The Community House Board meets 10 months out of the year and each member participates in one or more committees such as; executive, fundraising, building and grounds, finance, music, program and theater. The new members are: Dennis Cusick, a longtime resident of Hamilton. He and his wife, Loretta, have raised their two …

Today is Monday, Nov. 12. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 1. Warm: Monday is forecasted to be a spectacularly beautiful mid-November day, with temperatures well into the 60s and sunny skies. 2. Veterans Day: Monday is the observed holiday for Veterans Day, meaning that schools in the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District are closed as well as government offices. Some banks are closed and Wenham Museum will be open with its popular Geo Trax train display. 3. Trash Pickup: Hiltz Disposal will collect trash as scheduled on Monday in Wenham and trash will be as regularly scheduled all week, continuing in Wenham on Tuesday and then on to Hamilton on Wednesday. 4. Letter to the Editor: Thank You to the Hamilton Fire Station

A thank you to Hamilton firefighters.

To the Editor: Each week on Monday and Thursday mornings, parents and children attend Brian Doser’s “The Music Man”; an open children’s music and play hour at the Hamilton-Wenham Community House. As a mom who enjoys seeing her son experience a variety of childhood thrills, I approached the Hamilton Fire Department across the street to see if they would allow us to tour the station for a Meet-and-Greet with the firemen. They were more than agreeable and accommodating. I learned that fire stations greatly enjoy inviting children to visit their stations, climb on trucks and most importantly to teach them not to be afraid of firefighters. I’d like to express my gratitude to Firemen Ryan Goodwin and Jarod Dolan for welcoming the large group of …
