Five Things to Know Today in Hamilton and Wenham: Aug. 20

Today is Monday, Aug. 20. Here are five things you need to know: 1. Clouds: Monday will be a cloudy day and not so warm – temperatures will be in the 70s. No rain is expected. 2. Principal: Monday is the first day on the job for Christopher Heath, the new principal at Winthrop Elementary School in Hamilton. He was hired this summer, coming from the Goodyear Elementary School in Woburn. He replaces Carrie Vaich, who took a new principal job on the seacoast of New Hampshire. 3. Hayfields: Hayfields in Hamilton (in the Shoppes at Hamilton Crossing) will be closed Monday and Tuesday while owner Amy Camerlin heads to New York to shop for some new inventory. “Get ready for a fabulous fall and a magical winter of shopping!” Hayfields said on its …

Woburn Principal Hired to Lead Winthrop

Christopher Heath, currently an elementary school principal in Woburn, will be the next principal at Winthrop Elementary School in Hamilton, starting Aug. 20.

Christopher Heath has been named the next principal at Winthrop Elementary School. He will start on Aug. 20, according to a letter announcing Heath's hire on Tuesday from Superintendent Michael Harvey. “I believe that Chris’ experiences as the Principal of the Goodyear Elementary School in Woburn and as an Assistant Principal at the Joshua Eaton Elementary School in Reading have given him the practical experience in leading successful change that will allow him to be successful in leading the Winthrop Elementary School to new heights,” Harvey said in his letter. Principal Finalists are Winthrop Media Specialist, Woburn Principal

Parents, faculty and community members will be able to meet the two finalists to become the next Winthrop Elementary School principal on Tuesday, July 24 from 6-8 p.m.

An integrated media specialist at Winthrop Elementary School and a Woburn elementary school principal are the two finalists to be Winthrop's next principal. Christopher Heath, currently principal at Goodyear Elementary School in Woburn and Amy Pasquarello, currently the Integrated Media Specialist at Winthrop, are the two finalists. Superintendent Michael Harvey said on Monday afternoon in an announcement to parents that the two finalists both “possess the right combination of education, experience and enthusiasm necessary for success in the position.” Heath and Pasquarello were selected as the two finalists last Wednesday, after the search committee interview seven semi-finalists. I am thrilled Mrs. Pasquarello is a finalist for the principal position. All three of my kids attended Winthrop school and I have been extremely impressed with her leadership and drive. She was a strong presence at all events I have attended at Winthrop.
