Artists Have Friday Deadline for 'Iron Ranger' Design

If you have a design plan for the Iron Ranger at Bradley Palmer State Park, submit a plan to the state Department of Conservation and Recreation.

The “Iron Ranger” at Bradley Palmer State Park is one of the donation boxes that the state Department of Conservation and Recreation is seeking artists to paint wildlife and landscape scenes on it. The Iron Rangers is a narrow metal contribution containers located in parks across the state and collect donations placed in it. The 42-inch-high steel containers are currently a dull grey until decorated by artists. The artist program, now in its eighth year, is open to the public.  “The Iron Ranger program promotes exactly the kind of partnerships that are important to DCR’s mission,” said DCR Commissioner Ed Lambert. “It fosters community engagement, adds value to our parks in colorful ways, and enhances the visitor experience. Sun: The sun is expected to make an appearance on Tuesday, with high temperatures getting to the mid-30s - much the same as Monday. The winds will also be gusting as strong as 30 miles per hour. 2. Hike: The state Department of Conservation and Recreation wants to kick off the year on the right foot, quite literally, with a “First Day Hike” at Bradley Palmer State Park. It’s part of a statewide movement that started 20 years ago and now includes similar events across the country. It is a good thing the Wenham selectmen did not have that "Emergency" meeting. They must have realized that it is not an emergency under the open meeting law and they would have been in violation. An emergency for Open Meeting Law would be something like the town hall boiler blew up and destroyed the building, something that must be dealt with immediately.   more ›
