Nagy Wrote Suicide Note An Hour Before Shooting, Left Thousands in Cash

Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy said in his suicide note that he planned to shoot Beverly Police Officer Jason Lantych if he met up with him on the evening of Feb. 24.

Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy outlined his plans to shoot Beverly Police Officer Jason Lantych and then take his own life in a suicide note left at his home less than an hour before the Feb. 24 shooting. That’s according to a summary of the investigation released on Thursday by Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett. The report does not say where Nagy went between the shooting – just before 6 p.m. on Feb. 24 – and the time he pulled into the parking lot near the shooting scene at about 10:30 p.m. and killed himself in his sport utility vehicle. DA: Shooting was Because of Nagy's 'Perception of a Relationship'

An off-duty Hamilton police sergeant shot a Beverly police officer because of "his perception of a relationship" between the Beverly officer and his wife, investigators announced on Thursday.

Essex County prosecutors said Thursday that Hamilton Police Sg. Ken Nagy shot Beverly Police Officer Jason Lantych "because of his perception of a relationship between Lantych and his wife." The investigation into the Feb. 24 shooting outside the Starbucks in North Beverly has been concluded and found, besides the shooting, that no other criminal action occurred. A summary of the investigation was included in a five-page letter sent to Hamilton Police Chief Russell Stevens and Beverly Police Chief Mark Ray on Thursday. It is attached to this story as a PDF. The Essex County District Attorney said that the complete results of the investigation into Friday's night's shooting of a Beverly police officer by a Hamilton police sergeant will be released when it is complete - including looking into the relationship

The investigation into a shooting of a Beverly police officer by Hamilton police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy outside a Starbucks in North Beverly last Friday will be complete and thorough, Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said on Tuesday. Blodgett made the comments to reporters at an unrelated event in Newburyport. “The investigation is very ongoing,” Blodgett said in an interview with WCVB-TV. “It is very much being done professionally.” Investigators are still waiting on the results of ballistics and scientific tests, he said. “We are going to do a thorough, complete professional investigation and make our results know when they are done.” The investigation continues “to ensure that no other criminal activity took place in …

Nagy's funeral will be held Friday in Salem.

  The funeral for Hamilton Police Sergeant Kenneth Andrew Nagy, Jr. will be held Friday at St. James Church in Salem, according to Murphy Funeral Home in Salem. According to an obituary submitted by the family on Murphy Funeral Home's Website, Nagy leaves behind "his loving wife, Katherine, and their two wonderful young sons, Gavin William, 7, and Griffin Andrew, 5, to whom he passed on his love of gadgets, technology, and Star Wars." DA Investigating Motive Behind Beverly Shooting

The Essex County District Attorney's Office said Monday that the public is not in danger after Friday night's shooting involving a Hamilton police sergeant outside a Starbucks in North Beverly.

No criminal wrongdoing has been found – beyond the initial shooting - and the investigation into a motive is ongoing after Friday night’s shooting outside a Starbucks in North Beverly, Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett announced on Monday. In addition, the public is not in danger after the shooting, allegedly by Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy, and his subsequent suicide near the shooting scene five hours later, according to the District Attorney's office. More details were released on Saturday afternoon about Friday night's shooting of a Beverly police officer, allegedly by Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy.

Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy and Beverly Police Officer Jason Lantych arranged to meet at the Starbucks in North Beverly Friday night before Nagy allegedly shot Lantych in the leg and wrist, seriously injuring him. That’s according to a Saturday afternoon announcement by Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett into the investigation surrounding the circumstances of the 5:48 p.m. shooting. “Information as to the nature or purpose of the meeting has not been confirmed,” Blodgett said in a statement released at about 5 p.m. on Saturday. Several witnesses recall the scene immediately after a shooting outside a Starbucks in North Beverly on Friday night, allegedly by Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy, who authorities said later committed suicide near the scene.

Hamilton, Wenham, Essex should REGIONALIZE, consolidate all government functions and duplicity within departments in order to eliminate fiscal waste. Personal accountability should be a must and when one is serving the public they should have NO personal lives, everything out in the open.
