Shooting Investigation Results to be Released When Complete; Suicide Note Found

The Essex County District Attorney said that the complete results of the investigation into Friday's night's shooting of a Beverly police officer by a Hamilton police sergeant will be released when it is complete - including looking into the relationship

The investigation into a shooting of a Beverly police officer by Hamilton police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy outside a Starbucks in North Beverly last Friday will be complete and thorough, Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said on Tuesday. Blodgett made the comments to reporters at an unrelated event in Newburyport. “The investigation is very ongoing,” Blodgett said in an interview with WCVB-TV. “It is very much being done professionally.” Investigators are still waiting on the results of ballistics and scientific tests, he said. “We are going to do a thorough, complete professional investigation and make our results know when they are done.” The investigation continues “to ensure that no other criminal activity took place in …

Investigators Explore Connection Between Officer and Nagy's Wife

Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said the three were friends.

  Investigators are now probing the connection between Beverly Police Office Jason Lantych, Sgt. Kenneth Nagy and Nagy's wife Katherine. Sgt. Nagy's Obituary Details Man Who Loved Family

Nagy's funeral will be held Friday in Salem.

  The funeral for Hamilton Police Sergeant Kenneth Andrew Nagy, Jr. will be held Friday at St. James Church in Salem, according to Murphy Funeral Home in Salem. According to an obituary submitted by the family on Murphy Funeral Home's Website, Nagy leaves behind "his loving wife, Katherine, and their two wonderful young sons, Gavin William, 7, and Griffin Andrew, 5, to whom he passed on his love of gadgets, technology, and Star Wars." The obituary details Nagy grew up in Center Reach, Long island and was a graduate of Fonda-Fultonville High School. DA Investigating Motive Behind Beverly Shooting

The Essex County District Attorney's Office said Monday that the public is not in danger after Friday night's shooting involving a Hamilton police sergeant outside a Starbucks in North Beverly.

No criminal wrongdoing has been found – beyond the initial shooting - and the investigation into a motive is ongoing after Friday night’s shooting outside a Starbucks in North Beverly, Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett announced on Monday. In addition, the public is not in danger after the shooting, allegedly by Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy, and his subsequent suicide near the shooting scene five hours later, according to the District Attorney's office. Nagy’s suicide has made any prosecution of Nagy “moot,” said Blodgett’s spokesman Carrie Kimball Monahan. “As previously stated, the meeting between the off-duty officers was planned, the shooting was not random, and there appears to be no ongoing public safety concerns…

DA: Nagy and Lantych Arranged to Meet at North Beverly Starbucks Before Shooting

More details were released on Saturday afternoon about Friday night's shooting of a Beverly police officer, allegedly by Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy.

Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy and Beverly Police Officer Jason Lantych arranged to meet at the Starbucks in North Beverly Friday night before Nagy allegedly shot Lantych in the leg and wrist, seriously injuring him. That’s according to a Saturday afternoon announcement by Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett into the investigation surrounding the circumstances of the 5:48 p.m. shooting. “Information as to the nature or purpose of the meeting has not been confirmed,” Blodgett said in a statement released at about 5 p.m. on Saturday. Witnesses: Sound of Shooting Outside Coffee Shop 'Not Normal'

Several witnesses recall the scene immediately after a shooting outside a Starbucks in North Beverly on Friday night, allegedly by Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy, who authorities said later committed suicide near the scene.

A witness to Friday night’s shooting in North Beverly – allegedly by off-duty Hamilton Police Sgt. Kenneth Nagy – heard two loud bangs in front of Starbucks at the time of the shooting, he told New England Cable News. “It was definitely not normal – like somebody dropping a package or a box or something,” Ricky Graf told NECN. Personal accountability should be a must and when one is serving the public they should have NO personal lives, everything out in the open. UPDATE: Sgt. Ken Nagy Found Dead in His Car

Nagy reportedly shot and seriously wounded a Beverly officer on Friday night.

Hamilton Sgt. Ken Nagy, who was the target of a regionwide manhunt Friday night after he allegedly shot and seriously wounded a Beverly cop, was found dead in his vehicle near the scene of the shooting at about 11 p.m. Multiple law enforcement agencies had been searching for Nagy, a 20-year veteran of the Hamilton police force, after he reportedly shot and seriously wounded a Beverly police officer in front of the Starbucks on Enon Street Friday night. State Police Searching Hamilton, Wenham For Beverly Shooting Suspect

State Police don't deny that suspect is an off-duty Hamilton police officer.

State Police are checking locations in Hamilton and Wenham in the search for a suspect in a North Beverly shooting on Friday night. State Police said they are searching for a man in connection to the shooting, which happened just before 6 p.m. outside Starbucks on Enon Street, less than a half-mile south of the Wenham town line on Route 1A. A man was shot in the leg and was taken to Beverly Hospital, where he underwent surgery, according to State Trooper Todd Nolan. He is listed in serious condition, police said.
