Honors for Firefighting Cooperation at Last Month's Barn Fire
Hamilton and Wenham firefighters were congratulated for their cooperation in battling a Wenham barn fire last month.
The Wenham Fire Department was lauded last week for its efforts in battling a late night weekend barn fire in October and also for its cooperation with neighboring Hamilton firefighters. The fire, on Oct. 23, broke out at about 11:30 p.m. in a barn behind the home at 24 Monument St. The residents were at home they didn't know the barn was burning and a passer-by called it in on a cell phone. Nobody was injured but the barn was destroyed. "It was pretty much lost on our arrival," said Wenham Fire Chief Bob Blanchard. In front of Selectmen from both Hamilton and Wenham, Blanchard said it was a "job well done" as Wenham firefighters battled the fire and a Hamilton crew protected a nearby home.
