'Art Grows Here' Deadline is Tuesday

Art Grows Here is returning this summer and the deadline for artists to become involved is here.

Art Grows Here, the map-guided tour of outdoor art and performance in Hamilton and Wenham is returning this summer for the fourth straight year. And they are looking for artists to participate. The deadline to become involved is Tuesday, April 30. The 10-day tour of art is scheduled for July 12-21. Organizers are looking for "large outdoor art installations, sculpture, dance, poetry, musical performances, theater and street performers." Summer Outdoor Art Exhibit Looking for Entries

Art Grows Here is returning to Hamilton and Wenham for the 4th straight year this summer and is looking for entries.

The organizers of the 4th annual Art Grows Here map-guided tour of outdoor art and performance coming up this summer in Hamilton and Wenham is looking for artists to become involved. Art Grows Here is looking for proposals for art and performance to fill the streets and neighborhoods of the two towns for the unique 10-day tour of art that is scheduled for July 12-21, 2013. Five Things to Know on Oct. 22: Planning for Outdoor Art

Today is Monday, Oct. 22. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 1. Hydrants: The Hamilton Water Department will start on Monday night flushing hydrants all over town. The flushing will occur between 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. through Thursday night this week and for the following two weeks. 2. Farmers Market: A sure sign of fall – farmers market season is coming to an end. And on Monday, it is the last Beverly Farmers Market of the year. The market takes place along Railroad Avenue, near Beverly Depot and Veterans Park from 3-7 p.m. 3. Letter to the Editor: Art Grows Here Made Life "'Just That Much More Interesting'

Organizers of this summer's Art Grows Here two townwide outdoor art exhibit send out a thank you.

To the Editor: For 10 days in July, people explored Hamilton and Wenham in search of art. They were people like the family of four on bicycles, the Boston couple back for their third year in a row or the senior citizens in a bus from Beverly. All of them experienced something totally unique in Art Grows Here. These adventurous fans of art, following their maps across Hamilton into Wenham, were treated to an outsized bird’s nest woven with words, caricatures threaded in and around a tree and saw that Araneus the spider made his reappearance, in an even more fascinating guise than before. They got to try their hand at a large set of chimes situated in a blissful garden setting and just down the street saw the playful “G.B.,” out on an …

VIDEO: Interactive Musical Instrument Newest Addition to 'Art Grows Here'

Art Grows Here has added an interactive musical installation to its outdoor art exhibit, which runs all this week.

An interactive musical installation is the latest addition to Art Grows Here. The outdoor art exhibit, in its third year in Hamilton and Wenham, started with art in yards and public spaces in the two towns. Theatrical performances were added, and this year will include Open Road Theatre’s production of “Our Town.” Also new this year is an instrument that can actually be “played,” called "Chime In." The attached video shows one way to play the instrument, which is at 31 Mill St. in Hamilton. Artist Jill Herrick-Lee said she has also have provided several kid-safe drumsticks. Art Grows Here opened on Friday and runs through Sunday. Already, Herrick-Lee said, children from The Kids Connection daycare down the street have stooped by to play …

'Art Grows Here' Map to Offer Discount for 'Our Town" Performance This Year

The two town-wide Art Grows Here display returns for the third year in July, with the inclusion of a performance of "Our Town" by Open Road Theater.

Open Road Theatre's performance of Thornton Wilder’s full length play “Our Town” has been added to the selection of outdoor art that will be part of Art Grows Here next month. It's the third year for Art Grows Here, with organizers saying that the map-guided tour of art and performance throughout the towns of Hamilton and Wenham will feature a variety of outdoor art installations - both large and small and continues to grow with some sites offering visitors a chance to interact with the art. The tour runs from July 13–22. The display gets support from the Hamilton-Wenham Cultural Council and the Hamilton-Wenham Rotary. 'Art Grows Here' Enters Third Year, Seeks Entries for July Event

Art Grows Here is looking for artists to participate in the 2012 outdoor art display that will span Hamilton and Wenham in July.

It’s back – Art Grows Here will be returning to Hamilton and Wenham this summer for the third straight year. Right now, the local non-profit group is looking for local artists to participate in the “annual, ten day, map-guided tour of outdoor art and performance” in both towns. It will run July 13-21. “This year we want to fill our map with a full range of artistic expressions,” Art Grows Here said in its call for entries released on Wednesday. “We are looking for - but are not limited to - proposals for large outdoor art installations, sculpture, performance, dance, poetry, theater, group collaborations.” Last year’s display spanned the two towns, from the high-profile “stickball” on the front lawn of Wenham Town Hall and the bear fishing…
