Leave donated food items by your mailbox on Saturday to help local families in need.
This weekend once again mail carriers will come together to help those who need help putting food on the table in Hamilton and Wenham. Now in its 21st year, the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will take place on Saturday, May 11. That day residents are asked to leave a nonperishable item like peanut butter, soup or pasta in a sturdy bag next to their mailboxes before normal mail delivery time. At some point this week, your mail carrier should have dropped off a plastic grocery bag, donated by Essex County Community Foundation and EBSCO Publishing of Ipswich, to place the food in. Mail carriers will collect the food, which will help stock Acord Food Pantry in Hamilton before the summer. Last year, letter carriers collected more than 70 million …

To the Editor: On Saturday, Nov. 17, police officers, firefighters and dispatchers from Hamilton and Wenham will collect food for Acord Food Pantry. We have done this for 19 years and sincerely appreciate the response from the two communities. Acord needs our support during these difficult economic times. The clients are local people who may need some temporary help or may be some of our seniors whose Social Security check does not cover rising heat and medical costs. These people are our neighbors and Hamilton and Wenham have never failed to reach out and help. Please place your non-perishable, non-expired donation in your recycle box and have it out by 9 a.m. on Saturday. Acord composts all expired food items and recycles all the cans …

The Postal Carrier Food Drive in mid-May exceeded the expectations for Acord Food Pantry and there will be enough food through the summer for the pantry.
To the Editor: As co-Presidents of the Acord Food Pantry, we would like to extend our thanks and deepest gratitude to the Hamilton-Wenham community for making the May 12 Postal Carrier Food Drive a big success. We wanted to thank the many residents of Hamilton-Wenham who were able to make food donations. We wanted to extend a special thank you the postal carriers for all their hard work in making the drive possible. The Food Drive was more successful than we had anticipated, generating enough donations to keep us fully stocked for the next couple of months. We would also like to extend an invitation to anyone who wants to come visit us sometime to see our newly renovated space at 69 Willow St. in Hamilton! Sincerely, Anne Marie Cullen, …
