He narrowly lost the congressional race. What do you think his next move should be?
Former State Sen. Minority Leader Richard Tisei was seen to have a fighting chance -- and to some, a likely victory -- in the 2012 race for the 6th District congressional seat. But after the votes were counted, Tisei fell short and lost that race to incumbent Democratic Congressman John Tierney. Tisei did, however, win North Andover handily and amassed a wave of energized support across the district along the way. Tisei has decades of experience in politics, having served in the Massachusetts legislature for more than 25 years and serving as Senate minority leader before leaving his seat to run as Charlie Baker's gubernatorial running mate in 2010. The Baker/Tisei ticket failed to defeat incumbent Gov. Deval Patrick, but Tisei took the …

One noteworthy Capitol Hill publication is calling the Sixth Congressional seat race a "toss-up."
The Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call has categorized Massachusetts' 6th District congressional race between Congressman John Tierney, (D-Salem) and Republican challenger Richard Tisei of Wakefield as a toss-up. That is the only Massachusetts congressional seat listed as such. The rest are in the "Safely Democratic" category. And the 6th District seat had previously been labeled as "Likely Democratic." Both Hamilton and Wenham are in the 6th District. The Tisei campaign is viewing this as a milestone in the race. "Richard is well-known and liked throughout the district," Tisei Campaign Manager Paul Moore said. "Richard has spent years defying the odds by being elected by Independents, Republicans and Democrats. He's honest and a known …

Former Sen. Richard Tisei announced his candidacy for U.S. Congress on Nov. 15 in Wakefield. Tisei is running in the 6th District, which includes Hamilton and Wenham.
Former State Sen. Richard Tisei announced on Tuesday morning he will run for the U.S. House of Representatives, pledging to offer voters a choice against Democratic incumbent John Tierney (D-Salem) in 2012, and a commitment to "turn the country around." Calling Rep. Tierney "one of the most ideological left-wing members" who has become part of the "great divide" in Washington, Tisei said Tierney's stance on raising taxes, increasing government spending and creating more regulations for small businesses doesn't accurately represent the people of the 6th District. "This district needs an independent-minded Congressman," Tisei said during his announcement to run for office at the Americal Civic Center in Wakefield, his hometown. "The people …

He will kick off his campaign seeking the 6th District congressional seat.
Former State Senate Majority Leader Richard Tisei will officially announce his run for the state’s 6th District seat in Congress on Tuesday in his hometown of Wakefield. “I own a small business, a real estate company, and I’ve been working with people who were really having a hard time, who’ve lost their jobs, who’ve seen their life savings disappear,” Tisei said of his decision to run. “The American dream of home ownership has disappeared.” One factor in his decision was the state’s redistricting plan, which Tisei said he was waiting to be completed before announcing his run. Hamilton and Wenham will remain in the sixth district under the proposal, which has yet to be finalized. Hamilton Selectmen Jeff Stinson said he is excited to see …

I think it's a bit rich that Kerstin should think that Tisei should fight for ethics in politics when his background is not exactly clean either. I guess your perspective depends on which party you support.   more ›
