Social Media Delivered a Martini for Hamilton Man

A Hamilton man used social media to have a martini ready for him on time, and how he ordered it, on Friday night.

A Hamilton man said his social media network delivered for him on Friday by having a martini ready for him when he saddled up to the bar at 15 Walnut Bistro. Will Burns, chief executive officer at advertising company Ideasicle, on Friday posted a request, aimed at 15 Walnut, on his Facebook page: “I'd like the following drink prepared, already on the bar, and ready for me at exactly 5:00: Plymouth martini, up, olive, dry as a bone, shaken like your life depends on it. I'll be wearing the "Nothing is unthinkable" T-shirt in my profile pic. Good luck. Oh, and you can keep the change." A local man wants a martini waiting for him at 15 Walnut tonight and he needs your help.

Wondering how powerful social media is? Will Burns, chief executive officer of Ideasicle is testing the power locally today. Burns, of South Hamilton put out a challenge this morning around 11 a.m. on his Facebook page. The challenge says: "A CHALLENGE. I've got $20 with "15 Walnut" written all over it (local Bistro/Bar). I want to see if social media can reach the bartender at 15 Walnut between now and 5:00 this evening. Here's the challenge, Mr. or Mrs. Bartender: I will be at your bar at exactly 5:00 today. 15 Walnut Has New Manager

There's a new manager at 15 Walnut Bistro, the popular restaurant in downtown Hamilton.

There's a new manager at 15 Walnut Bistro in Hamilton. Ben Shute is taking over at the popular downtown Hamilton restaurant located in the Shoppes at Hamilton Crossing. The change in management requires notification to the Hamilton Board of Selectmen, serving as the Licensing Board, and the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission. Selectmen OKed the change on Monday night. Shute was promoted to the position when the former manager Andrea Knight was promoted to a corporate position with Serenitee Restaurant Group, which owns 15 Walnut and several other North Shore restaurants, according to attorney Gilda Elmstrom. Creosote Buildup Eyed as Cause of 15 Walnut Fire

A buildup of creosote and grease likely caused the fire in a ventilation pipe at 15 Walnut on Saturday afternoon.

The wood-fire oven at 15 Walnut Bistro is out of service after a fire Saturday evening in the oven’s ventilation system. The Hamilton Fire Department was called to the restaurant at 4:20 p.m. when someone at both the Oliver Gulf station across the street and someone in the parking lot at the Shoppes at Hamilton Crossing where the restaurant is located – plus a Wenham police officer – all spotted smoke in the area, said Hamilton Fire Department Capt. Mark Goodwin, who was the commander at the fire. Firefighters arrived to find a fire in the ventilation system for the wood-fire pizza oven and extended two ladders – one each from the Hamilton and Wenham Fire Departments – to the roof to get at the fire. “The pizza oven will be out of order …

15 Walnut to Reopen for Sunday Brunch After Saturday's Roof Fire

15 Walnut is reopening about an hour late for Sunday brunch after a fire on the roof on Saturday afternoon.

15 Walnut Bistro plans to reopen on Sunday afternoon for brunch after a roof fire at the Hamilton restaurant on Saturday afternoon. The restaurant, in the Shoppes at Hamilton Crossing, was closed for dinner on Saturday since the fire broke out at about 4:30 p.m., a half hour before dinner service starts. But on Sunday morning, officials from the Hamilton Fire Department and Hamilton Board of Health gave the OK for the restaurant to reopen. Ian O’Connor, an employee at the restaurant, said brunch typically starts at 11:30 on Sundays. “We’re planning to open by 12 or 12:30,” he said at about 11 a.m. There was no water or smoke damage to the restaurant, which is two and a half stories below where the fire was burning in the ventilation system…

Firefighters from Both Towns Quell Fire on Roof at 15 Walnut

Firefighters from Hamilton and Wenham were called to 15 Walnut restaurant on Saturday afternoon for a fire on the roof.

Fire crews extinguished a fire on the roof of 15 Walnut Bistro in Hamilton on Saturday afternoon. The fire was first reported when a Wenham police officer and 911 callers reported smoke in the area of 15 Walnut and Oliver Gulf, across the street, at about 4:30 p.m., according to radio communications by emergency crews. The Hamilton Fire Department ladder truck and the Wenham Fire Department ladder truck were both extended to the two and a half story high roof as firefighters worked at the restaurant, which is part of the Shoppes at Hamilton Crossing. A Lyons ambulance was called and stood by. Neighboring Walnut Road was also closed to traffic while firefighters were on scene. The fire was in the ventilation system, which was shut down by …
