1. GRAND WENHAM CANAL WALK

Where/When: Grand Wenham Canal (Salem-Beverly Canal), Old Town Way off Cherry Street, Wenham; Sunday, 2-4 p.m.

Why Go: The Grand Wenham Canal is an important link in the public water supply for the cities of Beverly and Wenham. Get an up-close look at it on Sunday with Ipswich River Watershed Association Executive Director Wayne Castonguay, who will talk about the two-mile long canal's use in the water supply system and as a recreational resource.

Where/When: Montserrat College of Art, 23 Essex St., Beverly; Saturday, Nov. 9

Why Go: Montserrat is an important part of life in downtown Beverly and on Saturday anyone can get a look at exactly what the students are up to this fall. Meet the student artists, faculty and staff, see their work and ask questions.

3. OPA! ST. VASILIOS' ANNUAL GREEK FESTIVAL

Where/When: St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody; Friday, 5 p.m. - midnight, Saturday, noon - midnight, and Sunday, noon - 6 p.m.

Why Go: The annual Greek festival at St. Val's runs all weekend long with homemade ethnic food, traditional dancing, live entertainment, raffles, family activities and more.

Pricing: Free (although a cover charge may apply to live entertainment shows)

4. 'ARTS-A-GLOW' IN DANVERS

Where/When: Danvers Art Association, 105 Elliott St., Danvers; Friday, 5-9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Why Go: The Danvers Art Association kicks off its annual holiday craft fair this weekend, featuring original works by association members, including jewelry, hand-painted pieces, original paintings, framed photography, knit goods, ornaments, baked goods, raffles and more. The fair will then run every weekend through Dec. 22.

Pricing: Free admission

5. NORTH SHORE CANCER RUN 5K AND 10K

Where/When: Cove Community Center, 19 East Corning St., Beverly; registration opens at 7 a.m., races start at 8 a.m.

Why Go: The North Shore Cancer Run is now its own event, being put on all by itself this fall in Beverly Cove. Both a 5K and 10K race will start at the same time, with an out-and-back course along Hale Street (Route 127). The 5K race turns around at Endicott College and the 10K course turns around at St. Margaret Church.

Pricing: $30 in advance, $35 day of race
