Movie Shoots Will Close Park Trails This Week

It is Monday, Nov. 11. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Windy: Clouds will increase on Monday and the wind will really blow, with gusts forecasted to blow up to 33 miles per hour. The high temperature will get to about 50 degrees.

2. Railroad: Wenham Museum is typically closed on Mondays, but is open on Veterans Day for the third and final day of the Rescue Railroad. The special railroad setup is at the museum just this week. It consist of standard-gauge track set up around the outskirts of “a quaint village with stores, diners, and old-fashioned fire stations.”

3. School: There’s no school on Monday in honor of Veterans Day, and it is day three in a four day weekend for students in the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District, who also have Tuesday off for a teacher workshop day. Classes resume as usual on Wednesday.

4. Veterans: Monday is Veterans Day and businesses all across the North Shore are offering free and discounted items for veterans in honor of their service. Keep an eye out on Monday for the specials.

5. Movie: Shooting is scheduled to continue this week for the HBO miniseries “Olive Kitteridge” at Bradley Palmer State Park. Through 8 a.m. on Thursday, the main parking lot of Asbury Street in Topsfield will be closed and parking will be relocated to the entrance off Highland Street in Hamilton. Plus, on Tuesday, several trails in the park will be closed, including the footbridge across the Ipswich River and the nearby roadside parking area, trail No. 5 from the gravel road to Topsfield Road, Healthy Heart Trail at marker No. 2, Trail from Greenbelt area on Winthrop Street at marker No. 6 and there will be no access allowed from Willowdale State Forest to Bradley Palmer State Park from the footbridge over Topsfield Road.
