Monday is Last Full Day Open at Town Offices

A daily look at five things to know to get the day started from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Monday, Dec. 23. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Rain: Monday is forecasted to be a rainy day, with the temperature eventually getting close to 50 degrees. There may be some freezing rain or freezing fog to start the day and later simply off and on rain with fog. The wind will blow from the northwest at 3-9 miles per hour.

2. DPW: If you have any urgent business at the Hamilton Department of Public Works or Water Department, make sure it gets done on Monday. The office will be closed all day on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Other town offices and the Hamilton-Wenham Library will close early on Tuesday for Christmas Eve.

3. Vacation: Monday officially marks the first day of holiday vacation for local students in the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District and at Pingree School. Hamilton-Wenham students head back to school on Monday, Jan. 6 and Pingree students head back on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

4. New Year’s Eve: One of the family-friendly New Year’s Eve activities here on the North Shore happens in Beverly. Beverly’s New Year runs from 3-7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve day with events focused on children and families. Admission buttons are $5 each through Tuesday, with the button also granting free admission to Wenham Museum on Tuesdays and Wednesday in January. The price goes up to $7.50 after Tuesday and will not include the free admission to Wenham Museum, plus some other North Shore museums such as Cabot House Museum in Beverly, The Witch House and Lynn Museum. Buttons can be bought at Dawson’s Hardware and Henry’s Market, among other locations.

5. Selectmen: The Hamilton Board of Selectmen meet on Monday night at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Room at Hamilton Town Hall. The board is slated to discuss a reorganization of the town’s land use departments. The meeting is anticipated to be rather quick, with the agenda calling for it to be wrapped up at about 8:15 p.m.
